Quick question , maybe you know: Can you take a monster off of land, add more BCX to it and put it back on without incurring any cooldowns or "lost time ?"

Well, the answer, is no
You can't remove a card from land, add more BCX then put it back. As soon as you remove it you incur the three day cooldown and that stops you from either combining it or putting it back. If you remove a card, its out of use for 3 days.
Fortunately I had a higher level card waiting in the wings , just in case :-)
