The concepts of wallets and the use of them have existed since the beginning of time probably. Well, maybe since the beginning of man. But man is it a weird concept. A compartment or space to store everything related to that store of value you and everyone else agree on. Sure, it's logical, but still weird. Maybe it's just me, since I have never really used one myself.
The pockets of my pants are my everyday wallets. Why would I put all my valuable stuff in some detachable pouch with great ease of access for the common criminal. But that's neither here nor there, and I'm probably overthinking it.
The wallet has evolved a lot over time though. From the small woven bag with gold and silver coins, to the leathery folding contraption, and now in the digital and decentralized age we have web apps and various other kinds of software to facilitate our monetary transactions.
And with that evolution of the nature of the wallet also came the natural evolution of the criminals associated with them. From the simple pickpocket to the sophisticated phishing attacker who wants to get your private key and steal your cryptocurrencies.
I never really bothered with physical fiat wallets, and now I find myself keeping track of multiple digital ones. Funny how the world works I would say. All in all there's not really a point to this story, as it just served as an outlet for my random thoughts.
