Productive entertainment: Learning while having fun

in LeoFinance2 years ago

It is a reality that even when we entertain ourselves, we can be learning new and interesting things. Personally, I generally, live immersed in my projects, focused and absorbed in business, since my greatest quality as an entrepreneur is, as I see it, that I am a visionary and tireless worker towards my goals.

Entertainment does not have to be something empty and meaningless

Although I think that one of my great qualities as an entrepreneur is to be stubborn and obsessed when it comes to achieving my goals of success, progress and well-being, it is also true that like any human being I require leisure time, entertainment and rest; that is why, among other things, I like to enjoy watching movies and series.

But the kind of movies and series that I usually watch are not the kind of empty and meaningless movies (although sometimes I can watch some movies like that too) that most people watch nowadays. The kind of movies and series that I watch are those that leave you with a business education, or of some kind, and that invite you to think and reflect on important things in your finances and in business.

For example, I fully watched the series "The Men Who Built America" which, as its name implies, deals with the great businessmen who built the current success and economic supremacy of the United States. In this series we see the history of a men like Rockefeller , Carnegie, J.P. Morgan and Henry Ford (among others). Anyone who is thoughtful and intelligent will learn great things viewing this serie (some to be imitated and some to be avoided), things we need to know when we doing business.

By other side, when it comes to movies, I like to watch productions like "The Founder," starring Michael Keaton, where he plays Roy Kroc, the man who bought McDonald's and catapulted it to the heights we know it today. It seems to me that the film is a great sample of concepts and teachings that if we see it with reflective attention, it will give us great lessons that all businessmen, entrepreneurs and any type of person who wants to succeed in life must learn.

But I won't tell you anything very deep about the series and movies I'm talking about, so as not to ruin them if you haven't seen them (I don't like spoilers). I simply mention them as a recommendation for all of you, and as part of the fact that I am talking about in depth in this article:

The productive entertainment

As I've already say, entertainment doesn't have to be empty or meaningless, so if we can learn something valuable while we entertain ourselves, why not do it? Don't you think?

The same goes for the books I usually read; because for work reasons I usually read trading and economics literature, but for entertainment reasons I like to read books such as "Rich Dad-Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. I have also read an infinite number of similar books, which talk about basic business teachings; this does not mean that I accept all the things that I read in these types of books as true, but that they invite me to reflect, to analyze what things I read about are true, and what are not so much.

This exercise is very useful and help me to keep my mind focus on my success goals, even when I get fun.

Productive entertainment invites you to think and reflect

I emphasize that productive entertainment is one that invites us to think and reflect on the issues that we consider important in life and business. Yes, like everyone else, sometimes I watch movies of violence and/or senseless entertainment, and yes, sometimes I read books that don't exactly invite you to think; but generally I try to make the movies, series and books I watch and read worth my time, and teach me something productive or help me think about it.

Knowing, as we do know, that the most important asset that all human beings have is time itself, I think it is important to make the most of even the time we dedicate to resting and entertaining ourselves; don't you think so?

Please, comment your opinions on the subject discussed. There they are read!!
