Graphite is an essential component of the lithium ion batteries, which are the base for the electric vehicle (EV) production. Graphite prevents the lithium ion battery from becoming unstable. The United States does not produce at all graphite.

The EV industry is set up to grow exponentially in the next few years. However, the necessary graphite is produced mainly in China, over a 70% of it.

The main company producing graphite is Graphex Group Ltd, which is international, but operates in China and uses American technology
