The price of natural gas is decreasing at a fast rate. The reason for this is most likely the warm temperatures predicted for the next few weeks in the United States. The contracts for January 2022 fell 8% to $3.80 per million British thermal units (BTU), the lowest price since August. It also represents a decrease of about 40% compared to October prices.
In addition to higher temperatures than usual, increased supply of natural gas from the Marcellus shale region is assuring a good supply of natural gas that may last for the whole winter season.
