[SOLVED] Contest: ABOUT COLORS + solution

I really thought this riddle was quite difficult, but in the end it only took @cryptosneeze 35 hours and 12 minutes to find the requested image and post it in the comments.
A great performance since there weren’t any tips given away.

Congratulations again! @onealfa transferred the prize money. It could have been more, but as you mentioned in the comments; solving it before any hint was more satisfying than a bigger prize.

The solution explained

I’ll explain how the image could be retrieved.
There were a few people that managed to solve half of the riddle and receive the password to unlock which was needed to extract the image from a zip file.
This password was hidden in the squares in the image. This squares contained a message that was encoded via Hexahue.

If you managed to solve this you would get the sentence:
“the password is 1alfaquiz go find the file”

Someone informed me there was also a new user created called 1alfaquiz. That wasn’t part of the contest so that must have been done by someone trying to solve the riddle.

And then the part to find the file. The contest was “ABOUT COLORS”. If you had taken a good look at the letters you might have seen that they are all different colors.
If you then had taken a color picker in a photo editor or online you could have looked up the HEX color code of each letter.

Then you only had to convert the HEX values to text and you would have received the URL:

Then you only needed to download the zip file, extract the image and post it in a comment...
Simple as that! No seriously, I thought this was quite a difficult contest which makes it even more impressive that @cryptosneeze managed to solve it this quickly without hints.

Some other thoughts

It was funny to see the attraction to these contests. I did some advertising on NoiseCash and it was posted on Twitter as well.
A couple of people started following me during this contest and almost half of them were new Hive accounts.
So hopefully we’ve introduced Hive and Leofinance to a couple of people. Welcome.

I hope you enjoyed this challenge as much as I did creating it.
I’m thinking of creating another one, I just have to get a good idea. Just keep an eye on my posts :)

Hey thank you for doing this.

I got my first guess correct in decoding that the blocks meant letters ( not numbers though ) but didn't move forward ( because I didn't know how to ) :(

Well done and a very nice contest.

I had noticed the 'about colors' seemed to be odd colors - my brain just didn't connect those dots.

good puzzle ;)

I got the site, but I couldn't get the password because I didn't know this hexahue codechart

I liked to know that the contests are bringing people from outside Hive, I am thinking of doing some too and call the twitter people to solve, if they want to answer they needed to be part of our community

And then for them to get interested in it, it's just a matter of time (and a little bit of dedication to understand how it works)

Congratulations to @cryptosneeze!!! :) Well I am one of them who tried this site because of the contest, found it so clever, enjoyed it and I am proud of me, because I've done this for the first time in my life, still, I found the riddle and I was searching for hex colors BUT not in the color word but in 1alfa... lol :) Cheers to you as well for the clever contest!!!
