"1922" Was Indeed A Disastrous Year (my movie reaction)

Yes! I have watched yet another movie which was inspired by "the" Stephen King's book of the same title. It's called "1922", an I strongly believe that it wasn't a good year... at all.

The movie or story was told in the first person point of view, which made it more interesting because it was like the being told the story first hand by the person involved. Everything started in 1922 when a family of three Wilfred, his wife Arlette and their son Henry.

Wilfred is a farmer who owns around 80 acres of land while his wife received another 100 acres after her father died. Wilf, being a proud dad and farmer dreams to take care of the whole land together so he could pass to his son after he died. However, his wife had another dream in mind and that is to sell all their property and start anew in the city.

Knowing this, Wilf tried to convince his wife not to do so. He even asked her to let him buy the land instead even though it's in installment, but to no avail. Because of this, their relationship started to get blurry until Wilf decided to end everything with the help of their only son.

Yes, they successfully got rid of Arlette... but actually, it was just the beginning. When someone commits a crime, they'd forever be wary and would try to get away with it with every possible thing. At first, it was OK. However, Henry got into a complicated situation which made him decide to leave his father. A series of unfortunate events visited both of them. But I won't be telling it here because it would be much of a spoiler. One thing though, humans are not the only ones involved.

These rats play a vital role in the story which gave it a creepy taste that would haunt the viewers especially those who are murophobic. I really like how these little fellas were used in the story and how they connect to every unfortunate event that happened. Let me share to you the trailer below.

What Do I Think About The Movie?

I actually enjoyed it. It was actually just pretty simple but there's something in the movie and story which really got me into it. It's not the typical scary type of horror, it's more on the psychological thriller type, so I really like how it was portrayed in the movie.

There are scenes which may look horridly disgusting, but it adds to the beauty of the film. And also, I super love how it ended. This is the kind of ending that I really like to witness. I know, I might be a weirdo for telling this, but that's what I truly feel. hahaha

Watching all these movies based on Stephen King's novels made me want to read his books. I'm just to lazy to read books nowadays, but I know I'd enjoy it. I am a John Saul fan and I guess "1922" somehow feels like a book written by John Saul. haha.. I don't know. If I didn't know that this was based on a Stephen King novel, I'd definitely think that it might be from John Saul's.

Anyway, I hope you give this movie a shot. It's worth your time... if you're into psychological thriller/horror that is! Thanks for reading and see you in my next reviews!!!
