Do you have to create multi mediums?

Nowadays more than ever to be a content creator you are required to create in all the different types of mediums but at the same time, you will have to "brand" yourself with a specific one and also a specific niche.

That can be good for some creatives, that only have the interest in one medium. But for many, it actually is very hard. Because people are not allowed to be as creative as they feel like or as they want to be, if they want to get their works seen online.

What do I mean with this, is that for example, if you start getting a following from people that enjoy your photography, them you will have to replicate that over and over again, because people followed you because they have enjoyed that part of you, so from now on you will be stuck. So if you venture posting something remotely different. It won't get engagement and people will not care about it.

At the same time, although it seems like people just want more of the same over and over again, they also want to be entertained, so you will have to manage ways to do that in the different mediums that people consume content these days on the internet. I have to admit that for me personally, the niches and closing myself in a box was something that I have always struggled with.

My creative moods take me everywhere and throw me all over the place. So it is very hard for me to get a following that stay engaged. Because they have followed me for one reason, so in their heads, that's what they want me to do. Even if they are consuming that other same type of content I am creating from other creators, and they like it, they don't associate it with me, so they won't be supporting that.

It is hard for me to admit this, but that's the way the internet and people brains work these days. And if you are a small content creator trying to make it bigger, you will have to accept that and find a way to submit to the "rules".

Eventually, when your following is bigger, and I mean Millions of people that are loyal, you might be able to branch out and then do more. But to grow, I fear that falling in those boxes will be the only way.

But let me know what do you think about this.
