Looking Back on My Travels - Amsterdam part III

Trip to Amsterdam

This is part III and the final part of my memories of my trip to Amsterdam a few years ago. The year was 2018 and having visited Amsterdam multiple times with work, but never having any time to do touristy things, but seeing first hand that it was a vibrant and fun city, I decided to buy a wedding anniversary present for my wife of flight tickets to Amsterdam, a hotel for two nights and various activities.

As you can see this is post III, so for your information, the first post talks about Anne Frank museum and the Ice Bar in Amsterdam and a link to that post can be found below.

The second post is entirely dedicated to Keukenhof or "the Garden of Europe" as it is known and a link to that post can be found below.

I can't help but share my four fave Keukenhof photos again for anyone who missed them.

This third and final post will take you on a trip down the famous Amstel river and show you some of Amsterdam's most famous sights.

All Aboard

Are you ready for a trip down the famous Amstel river? Ok then, grab your life jacket and off we'll go. This is definitely one where the photos can do the talking. I always enjoy seeing a city from the water like this, as this was the way the likes of the Vikings would have first seen it when they sent their longboats up the rivers and waterways around Europe back in 9th, 10th and 11th centuries.

The lady on the left in this photo is a descendent of Lief Erikson who actually was the first European to set foot in America back in the day, long before Christopher Columbus. Ok, so she is not related to him at all, and I have no idea who she is, but it sounded good didn't it!

Well, I'll be damned, if it's not a viking boat!! I mean what are the chances like!!!

Conclusion

That's it folks, I hope you enjoyed hearing about Amsterdam and Anne Frank, the Ice bar, Keukenhof and the Boat tour. If this was enjoyable let me know and I might do further series on Spain, Italy, Portugal, Croatia, Australia, America, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos and other countries.

Man, this place looks beautiful. I really hope I am able to get over there and visit at some point in my life. It looks like it a was a magnificent trip!

Thanks me auld flower. We are lucky in Europe to have so many choices on our doorstep and so much diversity of culture. Ya it was a great trip and my sister was minding our son (only had one at the time) so was our first trip away alone and it was magnificent 🤣🤣

That's awesome. It's hard to appreciate just how much is close at hand there since things are so far apart here. I'd love to be able to just hop on a train and be in a different country for the day.

Ya definitely.... We can't quite do that, as we are an island country, but we a cheap Ryanair flight to Rome, Paris, London, Stockholm, Barcelona, Brugges, Amsterdam etc.. which is pretty cool...

That does sound cool!
