Trip to Amsterdam
This is part II of my memories of my trip to Amsterdam a few years ago.
The year was 2018 and having visited Amsterdam multiple times with work, but never having any time to do touristy things, but seeing first hand that it was a vibrant and fun city, I decided to buy a wedding anniversary present for my wife of flight tickets to Amsterdam, a hotel for two nights and various activities.
The first post talks about Anne Frank museum and the Ice Bar in Amsterdam and a link to that post can be found below.

This second post is dedicated entirely to the vibrant and beautiful gem that is Keukenhof. Keukenhof or "the Garden of Europe" has to be seen to be believed. It is an amazing tapestry of colour in Lisse, on the outskirts of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. It expands to 79 acres and has more than 7 million flower bulbs!!! I will show you guys as many of these blooms as I possibly can in the photos which follow.
Introducing the beautiful world of Keukenhof
These pink tulips were also stunning and are quite an unusual colour for a tulip I thought.
This next photo really gives you an idea of the diversity of colour that is present in the flowers at Keukenhof.
This is another shot that really shows the diversity across the beautiful 75 acre estate near Amsterdam.
This is beside the windmills around half way around the site, and you can see in he background a huge field of tulips that the farmers are growing for export.
More beautiful blooms near the exit of Keukenhof.
This place really would give you some beautiful ideas for your own garden.
This next one shows that it is not just tulips that are celebrated here in Keukenhof, but even the lowly daffodils get a look in on the action.
Although there are some stunning tulips in the background too. Why do my tulips never blossom like this? Look at those colours and look how tall and proud they stand.
If flowers are not enough for you, there are also beautiful waterways sprinkled around Keukenhof, to keep everybody happy. These flowers are not tulips as far as I know, but I cannot remember what they are. Perhaps you know, and if so tell me about it in the comments below.
Here is my beautiful wife getting in for a photo with the gorgeous blooms.
Look at this one folks. Imagine having planting like this out in your back yard? You would be the talk of the neighbourhood!!
Here is another one of the good wife posing beside the beautiful colourful tapestry of flowers.
This next one shows the the flower mosaic dutch design and is an interpretation of a famous painting using 80,000 tulip bulbs, impressive stuff
You can read more about the flower mosaic dutch design here.
More beautiful blooms set against the back drop of a little pond which was teeming with wildlife as well.
This lovely swan was just one example of the fauna which surrounded the lake, with many other birds and ducks visible too.
Flowers to the horizon
Flowers flowers flowers as far as the eye can see. On the taxi ride from down town Amsterdam to Keukenhof, we passed many huge tulip farms, like the ones I show below. This is most likely where your tulips come from if you by them in a florist in Europe.
Join me for Part III
Join me for part III and the last part in this series, where my wife and I go on a boat ride up the river Amstel and take in some of Amsterdam's best known land marks along the way.
Thanks a million for stopping by
Peace out.
