Leaving Ireland for our family holiday

Holidays!!!!!!

20230627_160820.jpg

so we're back from holidays now, so this post is from the past I suppose. It's nice to post about your holidays but it's not really nice to post while you're on your holidays about your holidays, mind you I do find a little bit of time for Hive on my hols, but not too much, as there is just too much stuff to be doing like exploring the new place that you visited, the pool with the kids, going out for lunch and dinner and all that kind of good stuff. Also keeping 3 kids entertained on holidays is a job in itself, especially when one fractures hia foot one week before you go 🙈🙈

Yep that's right you went he went and did it!! Absolute pain in the hole not least for himself in fairness though. Crutching around in high 30s Celsius is no craic, but his biggest issue was no jumping in the pool. That's his absolute favorite, so I felt very sorry for the poor little soul.

It's not his first rodeo either. Just before our summer holidays last year he broke/fractured a bone in his growth plate on his hand. His brother and himself were playing soccer out the front and he put his hand down to get the ball and his brother gave him one almighty kick and he fractured a bone, so last year jumping in the pool was curtailed too. Next year we'll have to wrap him up in cottonwool before we go away!!

So off we went to Dublin, 2 and bit hour car journey to my work (near airport), taxi to airport and a 3 hour plus wait. We got there very early to allow for Crutchey-Mac-Crutch-Face!

To be honest it was a bit of a game changer. I've never been so stress-free in an airport in my life, it was actually really nice to have all that spare time.

Huge queue for the food....don't care.

People rushing around... haha that won't be us today.

We also had a wheelchair for little legs which meant we got to skip all the queues which was a whole new experience, although that did not include the queues for the food.

It was soon time to board....

But not before one last coffee for Mammy bear...

And one last decent pint of the black stuff for Daddy bear. I don't drink any outside of Ireland. Never.

Up Up and Away!!

Okay folks get ready to line up and fire a few stones at me a few slagings as one of my favorite things about being in an airplane is looking down on the fields below, yeah everyone probably likes to do that. For me though I'm trying to look for golf courses! I love looking at them from the air like a drone trying to figure out which course they are and if I've played them. For other places in the world, I'll try to sos if they look like a good track.

The one you see here is near Dublin airport and it's called St margarets. I'm lucky enough that I've played it probably 10 times. It's a great little track and one of five golf courses where I've had an eagle! Par 5. Drive. Hybrid 3. Putt. Nice!!

That's it for now. Look out for more posts over to coming week or two from our holidays down in the south of Spain.

Adios.

Family holidays are always full of special memories and unforgettable experiences. It was impressive that you described the emotions you felt while leaving the beauties of Ireland. I felt that you shared the excitement and anticipation you felt while planning and preparing your holiday. I hope you will collect wonderful memories with your loved ones on your holiday. I wish you have a safe journey and enjoy!

Hey there, thanks for the lovely and meaningful comment. Family holidays are something the boys will remember for the rest of their lives so it's important to enjoy them as much as possible.

Oh, poor baby :( Here's to hoping the crutches don't completely dampen everyone's holiday mood. You have a blast down there! These memories are precious.

He is disappointed to not be able to jump into the pool, as that's his favourite thing in be the world but he is being resilient and dealing with it well, thanks for stopping by

I love it when the airport experience is smooth. It makes it all so much better. Bad luck on the wee man's fracture. That is harsh missing out on the pool jumping!

I dont blame you for not drinking the black stuff out of Ireland. We have a pub in Glasgow that gets it direct and it is nice but still not as nice as over there. Everywhere else it is bitter rubbish!

Ya, sure just one of those things man, can't be helped. Did he learn his lesson about listening to his Auld man?? Not a chance of it!!! 😁😁

Ya the Guinness doesn't travel well, short list of places around the world where I've gotten a decent pint, Singapore surprisingly being one of them!

Singapore eh, another reason to travel there! :OD

Oh my, that’s extra challenging.
Hope the little man is doing fine and it heals up well.

He has one more week with the orthopaedic shoe, so over the worst of it now thank God!

That’s good to hear. Almost over it then.

The first time I came to Japan, the airport advised to arrive 3 hours in advance for international flights. I don't know if they still do. This would have been a bit over 20 years ago. Having never flown outside the US before, I followed their advice and got there 3 hours early. ...only to make it through the check-in line in about 10 minutes, giving me over two hours to kill. On one hand it was annoying and a bit boring, but on the other hand... completely stress-free. I had time to go over my lists, make sure I had everything ready, and even stop for a snack before going. No guinness, sadly. I think the cheap one was probably bud light or something. Not good, but passable when thirsty. Anyway, because of that I almost always arrive at least two hours early, just to give myself the same relaxing time. Having a family now, I need that relaxing time before the flight! haha

Ya the extra time especially with kids is a gift. Makes the whole experience so much less stressful. I too will be allowing more time in future, unless the flights are at stupid o'clock ..
