Standing alone in the desert, the door to somewhere lacks any attached walls and has no building to support its presence. Leading to... what exactly? Just a frame and a knob.
Walking around it reveals just sky and sand. But those who have opened it swear they have seen other locations: a misty London street, a Tokyo subway platform, their childhood bedroom just as they left it forty years ago.
The door is never at the same place twice. Hikers discover it. Lost travelers come across it. Unable to account for it, scientists pretend it doesn't exist.
Some argue that it leads you most everywhere you must go. Others advise it will take you to your rightful spot. Either way, the door waits patiently in its impossible solitude, offering passage to somewhere that isn't here—which is all any door really promises.
