#freewrite :: Prompt for Day 1210: rubber soles

in Freewriters3 years ago (edited)

"Thud!"

I stared at the ceiling, suddenly realising that I had fallen flat on my back. I knew I should have worn a different pair of shoes. At least one with rubber soles.

I had wanted to look good for the interview, having chosen a pair of heels that was an inch height. Not that high but they looked the most formal than my pair of favourite pair of sneakers. The soles of this pair were made of plastic of some sort. One that was too smooth for my liking but they had looked good on my feet and would have given a good first impression. Would have.

I slowly stood up, brushed my rear and tried to feel if anything was broken. No sharp pain anywhere. That should be good news. I knew the pain of a crack and no such feeling at that moment.

I looked around to see if I had dropped anything and noticed how slippery the floor looked on this wet morning. I shouldn't have walked that fast. No wonder I fell. Silly me to have worn this pair of shoes, I thought quietly as I slowly walked like a duck to the building nearby for my interview.
