MicroFiction: A 250 word story written using the word prompt "evil ceremony".
...When I think of the words "evil ceremony", images of dark and foreboding ritual occurring. The attendees are somewhat questionable also. The event usually covers some type of unsavory acts. But then again, when one thinks of the word evil, it can encompass a state of mind. Since evil is subjective, how one views a situation may be different from another. I share a story based upon my interpretation of the concept of evil being morally wrong. The story is in the format of a ZAPFIC250, and is told in exactly 250 words.
For my theme, I was inspired by and utilized the @daily.prompt's publishing of @mariannewest's Freewrite Writing Prompt Day 2136: evil ceremony.
Below is my story:
The whole thing was an evil ceremony as far as Lydia was concerned. How dare Mitchell take up with that witch? It was ungodly. Pure evil. Morally wrong on all fronts.
How low can one sink so low by inviting former co-workers to their nuptials?
But the co-workers all agreed to attend. They had to. It was like the resolution of a scene out of a B-rated flick.
Watching them for more than a year flirting with each other from the time they arrived at work, through morning and afternoon coffee breaks, to working late together. The six co-workers were supposed to be a team. Not pair up after the workday ended for after-hours rendezvous.
And it wasn't Lydia who noticed when it first started. Broadcasting one's personal life to all on the job who'd listen should have been forbidden. That was the first mistake. The way Mitchell snatched the information in mid air and canvassed Bianca from the roof down to the floor was indecent. Although a small business, the entire company knew about some aspect of trouble in Bianca's marriage.
Mitchell wasn't innocent in the affair. Everyone assumed his marriage was top-notch.
"What about the children on both sides?" everyone whispered.
The final straw. Both adulterers were caught after hours in the employee lounge using the amenities for everything other than work tension relief.
Although both guilty, the unfairness of the situation resulted in Bianca being fired.
But then, the time period was a few decades ago.

Para Lydia, todo aquello era una ceremonia diabólica. ¿Cómo se atrevía Mitchell con esa bruja? Era impío. Pura maldad. Moralmente incorrecto en todos los frentes.
¿Qué tan bajo se puede caer invitando a antiguos compañeros de trabajo a sus nupcias?
Pero todos los compañeros de trabajo aceptaron asistir. Tenían que hacerlo. Fue como la resolución de una escena de una película de serie B.
Verlos durante más de un año flirteando entre ellos desde que llegaban al trabajo, pasando por las pausas para el café de la mañana y de la tarde, hasta trabajar juntos hasta tarde. Se suponía que los seis compañeros eran un equipo. No emparejarse al terminar la jornada laboral para tener citas fuera de hora.
