MicroFiction: A 250 word story written using the word prompt "my alternate lifestyle".
...For me, today's prompt "my alternate lifestyle" means a person is willing to try something new or different in their life. It may be a total replacement of the way one thinks about life, lives their life, or engage in certain activity. I know when I decided to live a minimalist lifestyle, it meant a complete attitude adjustment in the number of non-essential items I wanted invading my living space. Other, more extreme aspects of a lifestyle change has to suit that person's particular needs or values.
One cannot judge another person. It's his or her life and the way that person wants to live to achieve peace and happiness. I share a story that is a micro-story format involving 250 words that is a ZAPFIC250.
For my theme, I was inspired by and utilized the @daily.prompt's publishing of @mariannewest's Freewrite Writing Prompt Day 2114: my alternative lifestyle.
Below is my story:
Owen strode out onto the balcony, plopped down, placed his feet upon the rail, and leaned back. Adrienne stepped outside.
For the longest time, she stared at his naked frame. Starting at his head, she watched his chiseled chest heave with deep breaths as if trying to impress. Dedication this past year ensured his ritual at the local gym paid off.
Anger rose up as tenseness in the atmosphere, gearing up for the weekly confrontation, replaced the cool calmness of the morning breeze. Not this week.
Her gaze stopped short of his thighs. Eyes tearing up, she looked away, saying nothing. Indifference had overtook her heart.
The large diamond-studded wristwatch she purchased for their first anniversary glistened. She leaned over and unhooked it without resistance.
Strolling back inside, she headed toward their bedroom. Gently placing the watch inside a hidden compartment, she finished packing. For the past few months, folded moving boxes stood ready behind her wardrobe.
Staring into her vanity mirror, she had hoped Owen would reconsider his decision for their relationship.
The brochure he'd left with her three months ago signaled he'd located a suitable camp to satisfy his needs.
Naturism. Nudist Club and Resort. "Are you coming with me?" he insisted.
Adrienne searched her soul; personal convictions; her heart. If practicing this lifestyle was not about non-sexual social activity, when why spend a year sculpturing your body? A year with Owen already provided the answer.
Owen raced into the living room just as the door slammed shut.

El complejo
Owen salió al balcón, se tumbó, apoyó los pies en la barandilla y se recostó. Adrienne salió.
Durante largo rato se quedó mirando su cuerpo desnudo. Empezando por la cabeza, observó cómo su pecho cincelado se agitaba con respiraciones profundas, como si tratara de impresionar. La dedicación del último año había hecho que su ritual en el gimnasio local diera sus frutos.
La ira surgió cuando la tensión del ambiente, que se preparaba para el enfrentamiento semanal, sustituyó a la fresca calma de la brisa matutina. Esta semana no.
Su mirada se detuvo en los muslos de él. Con los ojos llorosos, apartó la mirada sin decir nada. La indiferencia se había apoderado de su corazón.
El gran reloj de pulsera con diamantes que había comprado para su primer aniversario brillaba. Se inclinó y lo desabrochó sin oponer resistencia.
Volvió a entrar y se dirigió a su dormitorio. Colocó con cuidado el reloj en un compartimento oculto y terminó de empaquetar. Durante los últimos meses, detrás de su armario había cajas de mudanza dobladas.
Mirándose en el espejo del tocador, esperaba que Owen reconsiderara su decisión sobre su relación.
