Drabble: A 100 word story written using the word prompt "Scream".
...A different type of freewrite today. I'd like to share with you a fantasy horror story. Set in the forest, a brother attempts to rescue his sister from a terrible evil. With their parents both deceased, they run for their lives. The only thought keeping the brother focused is the voices of his parent pleading with him to get his younger sister to safety. Will he succeed? Find out in my story.
This new micro-fiction story format was recently created by @felt.buzz. It's a bit longer than the usual ZAPFIC50 flash fiction I frequently participate in. Although a longer word count, I still struggle to rein in my thoughts to adhere to the 100-word limit.
For my theme, I was inspired by and utilized @mariannewest's Freewrite prompt posts sharing numerous story prompts here: Weekend Freewrite -7/11/2020 - Single Prompt Option.
Below is my story:
The moon's shadow illuminated the forest. A wolf howled nearby.
Jimmy sensed his younger sister, Annie, slowing.
As they ran, the clearing ahead seemed farther away.
No time to cry. His parent's last words rang in his ear. "Get your sister to safety! You can do it. Just keep moving."
Her arm felt heavy.
He looked back.
Distorted, her body dripped flesh.
Numb, he dropped her arm, then watched in horror as the rest fell.
Scream!, his thoughts belted. But only empty air echoed.
His mind urged his legs to run.
What direction?
The fiery beast, circling overhead descended rapidly.

Un tipo diferente de freewrite hoy. Me gustaría compartir con ustedes una historia de fantasía y terror. Ambientada en el bosque, un hermano intenta rescatar a su hermana de un terrible mal. Con sus padres muertos, huyen para salvar sus vidas. El único pensamiento que mantiene al hermano concentrado son las voces de sus padres suplicándole que ponga a salvo a su hermana pequeña. ¿Lo conseguirá? Descúbrelo en mi relato.
Este nuevo formato de microrrelato ha sido creado recientemente por @felt.buzz. Es un poco más largo que la ficción flash habitual de ZAPFIC50 en la que suelo participar. Aunque el número de palabras es mayor, sigo luchando por controlar mis pensamientos y ceñirme al límite de 100 palabras.
Para mi tema, me inspiré y utilicé las publicaciones de @mariannewest sobre Freewrite, en las que comparte numerosas historias: Weekend Freewrite -7/11/2020 - Single Prompt Option.
A continuación mi historia:
La sombra de la luna iluminaba el bosque. Un lobo aulló cerca.
Jimmy sintió que su hermana pequeña, Annie, iba más despacio.
Mientras corrían, el claro parecía más lejano.
No había tiempo para llorar. Las últimas palabras de sus padres resonaron en su oído. "¡Pon a salvo a tu hermana! Tú puedes hacerlo. Sólo sigue moviéndote ".
Sentía el brazo pesado.
Miró hacia atrás.
Distorsionado, su cuerpo goteaba carne.
Entumecido, soltó el brazo y vio con horror cómo caía el resto.
¡Grita!, le dijeron sus pensamientos. Pero sólo resonó el aire vacío.
Su mente instó a sus piernas a correr.
¿En qué dirección?
La bestia ardiente, que volaba en círculos, descendió rápidamente.
