Drabble: A 100 word story written using the word prompt "a well earned break".
...Taking a break after completing a task is usually customary. People feel that a once a task is completed, they need to relax to calm themselves and regroup. This is true especially of a major job. You can't truly focus on a new job until your mind is clear. I have always felt hesitant to start a fresh task immediately after completing an old one. I relate a micro-story for the prompt "a well earned break" based on @felt.buzz's new format, ZAPFIC100. This format allows for creation of a story that is told in exactly 100 words.
My story is based on the @dailyprompt's publishing of @mariannewest's Freewrite Writing Prompt Day 2024. Prompt: a well earned break.
Below is my story:
"I deserve a well earned break." Henry yawned, then recited vacation destinations.
"The only information you've retained precisely in the past two weeks is where the men's facilities and company deli are."
"But I've worked my behind off in between."
"I think you're forgetting your 90-day probation."
Looking totally flabbergasted, Lonnie 's eyes bucked. "I have to show up everyday for 90 days?"
"It's there in black in white." Henry pulled out his copy of the Employee Handbook."
"Nope, that language wasn't there when I looked."
Lonnie shook his head wondering whether to add him to next month's work schedule.
