Drabble: A 100 word story written using the word prompt "bread and butter".
...I was delighted to read today's prompt bread and butter. The term when taken together reminds me the many sayings my parents would recite when attempting to instill in us values that we should not take granted. Their intent was to tell us that nothing in life is guaranteed. External forces can rush in and destroy something you value or disrupt your life when you think all is well. I share a micro story involving the day's prompt that is based on a format known as ZAPFIC100. It's a story that is told in exactly 100 words.
For my theme, I was inspired by and utilized the @daily.prompt's publishing of @mariannewest's Freewrite Writing Prompt Day 2031. Prompt: bread and butter.
Below is my story:
The stream flows effortlessly as the brown bear wait and eagle fly patiently.
It is their "bird in the hand" instead of in the bush.
It is their "bread and butter",
It is their "sure thing" and all other clichés.
Just like the changing of seasons, salmon should be coming around the corner any day.
But they don't.
Little does the brown bear and eagle realize that, on the way to their sacred spawning place, human intervention dealt the salmon a deadly blow.
Pollution filtered through the waters as the salmon began their journey.
The cycle of life is broken.

Me ha encantado leer el tema de hoy pan y mantequilla. La combinación de estos términos me recuerda a los muchos refranes que recitaban mis padres cuando intentaban inculcarnos valores que no debíamos dar por sentados. Ciclo de la vida
