Drabble: A 100 word story written using the word prompt "she looked happier".
...Sometimes parents and children don't see things the same way. There is no meeting of the minds to resolve issues. Children who've grown up in the digital and technological age have different viewpoint. Also, their ideas of equality and freedom are different based on different influences and knowledge resources available. Forcing one's ideas onto millenniums don't work like it did in other generations where parents had more control and influence on their children. I share with you a story related to this concept.
This new micro-fiction story format was recently created by @felt.buzz. It's a bit longer than the usual ZAPFIC50 flash fiction I frequently participate in. Although a longer word count, I still struggle to rein in my thoughts to adhere to the 100-word limit.
For my theme, I was inspired by and utilized @mariannewest's Freewrite prompt: Day 1981: 5 Minute Freewrite: Sunday - Prompt: she looked happier.
Below is my story:
Furious at hearing the latest, Charlotte summoned her husband.
"Stop lying! Our daughter didn't commit herself to a psychiatric hospital."
Yes, she left home refusing to attend your alma mater, enter your profession, and marry your choice;
Yes, I made sure your money helped her.
Yes, she finished college, a Psychology degree, then interviewed for that mental health facility position;
Yes, she's living life her way;
Yes, because of your unreasonableness, she's now estranged from us.
But she looked happier than I've ever seen when last I checked her social media.
And Yes, I'll be leaving to reside with her."

A veces, padres e hijos no ven las cosas de la misma manera. No hay un encuentro de las mentes para resolver los problemas. Los niños que han crecido en la era digital y tecnológica tienen puntos de vista diferentes. Además, sus ideas de igualdad y libertad son diferentes en función de las distintas influencias y recursos de conocimiento disponibles. Forzar las ideas propias en los milenios no funciona como en otras generaciones en las que los padres tenían más control e influencia sobre sus hijos. Este nuevo formato de microrrelato fue creado recientemente por @felt.buzz. Es un poco más largo que el habitual flash fiction de ZAPFIC50 en el que suelo participar. Aunque el número de palabras es mayor, sigo luchando por controlar mis pensamientos y ceñirme al límite de 100 palabras.

Furiosa al enterarse de lo último, Charlotte llamó a su marido.
"¡Deja de mentir! Nuestra hija no se internó en un hospital psiquiátrico.
Sí, se fue de casa negándose a asistir a tu alma mater, entrar en tu profesión y casarse con quien tú eligieras;
Sí, me aseguré de que tu dinero la ayudara.
Sí, ella terminó la universidad, una licenciatura en Psicología, y luego se entrevistó para ese puesto en un centro de salud mental;
Sí, ella vive la vida a su manera;
Sí, debido a tu irracionalidad, ahora está alejada de nosotros.
Pero parecía más feliz de lo que he visto nunca la última vez que revisé sus redes sociales.
Y sí, me iré a vivir con ella".
