...I love door knockers. The many varieties with animals faces are ones I'm attacted to. The bronze ones stand out I feel. The prompt "bronze doo knocker" presented an opportunity to share a delightful story in the format of a ZAPFIC100. This format was created by @felt.buzz and is told in exactly 100 words.
For my theme, I was inspired by and utilized the @daily.prompt's publishing of @mariannewest's Freewrite Writing Prompt Day 2054. Prompt: bronze door knocker
Below is my story:
The bright moon cast a familiar glow on Samantha's front porch. With one hand behind him and the other only inches from the door, Barry stood frozen.
The lion's angry stare, always resembling that of her father, spewed out his displeasure from the bronze door knocker.
The family's canine then announced Barry's arrival before his throbbing pulse regained composure.
Three strikes every time.
This time, the words would flow. This time, he'd present a promise of his affection.
This time, the door swung open.
Barry panicked, realizing he'd forgotten the ring.
"Hi Barry, Samantha's getting engaged." Her father smiled broadly.

Un día tarde y un anillo corto
La luna brillante proyectaba un resplandor familiar en el porche de Samantha. Con una mano detrás y la otra a escasos centímetros de la puerta, Barry se quedó helado.
La mirada furiosa del león, siempre parecida a la de su padre, escupió su disgusto desde la aldaba de bronce de la puerta.
El can de la familia anunció entonces la llegada de Barry antes de que su pulso palpitante recuperara la compostura.
Tres golpes cada vez.
Esta vez, las palabras fluirían. Esta vez, presentaría una promesa de su afecto.
Esta vez, la puerta se abrió de golpe.
Barry entró en pánico, dándose cuenta de que había olvidado el anillo.
"Hola Barry, Samantha se va a comprometer". Su padre sonrió ampliamente.
