No mater what makes the air around you tremble, there have to be a point when the answer is already known. The offer was so tempting that it oozed from every word. It suggested ease, comfort, and perhaps even fame. However, the rot could be detected beneath the alluring language.
Walking away is not always simple. The intellect enjoys bargaining and transforming justifications into appealing forms. Nevertheless, embellishment does not make reality any less harsh.
I took a long breath, waited a moment before pushing the paper away. I didn't have the right to grab it. My peace is not what we can negotiate with, and my dignity can't be trade for any price.
