Expectation is like being at a train station, watching the train tracks, and waiting for a train to come. You don’t need to have a set schedule, so you just have to wait. At times this waiting is based on expectation, and at times it relies completely on anticipation. We think people will care, reply, and be what we expected. We look forward to good results from our trying, calm after problem, and love after we have show love.
Yet, expecting that can be risky. It makes images in our minds, but reality is not always match what we what. When our expectations aren’t met, it can hurt us with silence, make us feel the pain of absence, or frustrate us with delays.
Nonetheless, we continue to have hope. Because deep inside, we hold onto the belief in change, kindness, and the chance that everything might turn out positively. Having expectations isn’t a sign of weakness. It shows our courage to hope, even after experiencing disappointment before.
