In response to the Alien Art Hive Community's Inktober Prompts that were part of their Cosmic Creations Edition #6 Contest, Cosmic Creations Edition #6 is LIVE: INKTOBER PROMPTS, members were encouraged to choose a prompt theme from the Inktober Prompts list for their entry into the contest.
After my entry into the contest with Prompt #17 - DEMON which I published on 9/23, I decided to take the Inktober concept one step further. I will focus on the remaining 30 Prompts on the list, beginning with Prompt #1. How fun the themes will be preparing my projects utilizing the mixed media art themes. If a Drabble story (100 words) or other flash fiction emerges, then all the more fun!
Below is my project for Inktober Prompt #1:
To sleep, perchance to dream – ay, there’s the rub,
For in this sleep of death what dreams may come…”
(Hamlet, act 3 scene 1) 1
On the far side of the city near the outskirts of a power facility, the shuttle hovered over a small area that came into view. Crowded with several abandoned factory buildings, the pilot lowered Jacob and his comrade, Donthro, down onto the shaded landing area. They cut the cords, scurried across the behind the first building. Hunching down, the stockpiles afforded them cover from detection. The first stage of the operation was behind them.
Finding Sophie was the only thing that matter.
It was the glare of the search beams that helped discover the building that presumably housed his companion. "Is she there?" Donthro's quivering voice asked from behind, hovering over Jacob's shoulder, while pointing to the pewter dimly-lit building.
Jacob was right. They had no way of knowing if Sophie was actually in that facility, let alone on this remote planet known as Cyborgia II. Sketchy clues, an excessive extortion payment, and undercover transport fees led them to this night.
Still, if there was a chance she was trafficked to this place, they had to attempt a rescue.
Donthro activated the ray synthesizer. Discovering that an intermittent shield surrounded the factory, he calculated the intervals at which they could advance.
Once clear, they approached the side of the building. It's only distinguishing feature was one large window.
Turning left, they discovered another window in the rear.
The moon's shadow provided a glimpse of what appeared to be several long glass pods connected to numerous tubes and wires. Steam hissed as small tubs of liquid bubbled up and into the tubes.
What was being pumped into those pods that housed what looked like human bodies?
And did one of them contain Sophie?
My inspiration for Prompt #1 - Dream for the Inktober Prompt was taken from the greatest playwright I feel that ever put pen to paper, William Shakespeare. In his work, Hamlet, Act 3, scene 1, the author focuses on the theme of death and the contemplation of revenge to account for perceived wrongdoing until actual knowledge is revealed. In my story, the theme is that of a perceived betrayal where the dream state of mind takes over and reveals inner turmoil for the heroine.
In developing the theme for the prompt, I chose four ethereal pure fractals I created. These three fractals combined to enhance the dream atmosphere, providing a colorful array of shapes.
I also decided to utilize a stable diffusion image as the background of my scene. The image would represent a place where the female has entered into the dream state. This is her refuge from the unpleasantness of her captivity. The scene is induced with drugs to keep her under control and in a hallucinating state of mind. The diffusion program I used was StarryAI.
Below are my steps. I feel that the description I chose turned out beautifully in reflecting a place where dreams lay. Cool versus hot. The conflict, competing calmness and violence.

For the heroine in my story, I chose a free-sourced image I felt was perfect to reflect someone in a dream state. Since she had been captured and is experimenting on her, the hands surrounding her body and holding her steady to me represents control of the mind and body. I loved the bronze color of the woman. It contrasted sharply with the vivid variety of colors in her mind.
Positioning the female lying down would provide a visual interpretation of the image in a dream-like state.

With my images on hand, I uploaded them to Canva. I use this program as my design studio to blend the images and create an awesome scene. This program affords me the tools to resize, remove backgrounds, colorize, filter, and reposition my images. In addition, I have at my disposal the free templates and elements to create the backgrounds from my scenes or add additional images.
From left to right, you can follow my procedure below.
I started with a blank, white canvas.
Duplicated diffusion cloud.
Duplicated both fractals in upper screen.
Added beautiful clouds fractal.
Added female image. Removed background.
Switched color-black. Added diffusion cloud.
Added orange ball fractal and red fractal.
Added blue cap fractal for dream experiment.

! [What Dreams May Come Spanish Translation]
