In response to the Alien Art Hive Community's Inktober Prompts that were part of their Cosmic Creations Edition #6 Contest, Cosmic Creations Edition #6 is LIVE: INKTOBER PROMPTS, members were encouraged to choose a prompt theme from the Inktober Prompts list for their entry into the contest.
After my entry into the contest with Prompt #17 - DEMON which I published on 9/23, I decided to take the Inktober concept one step further. I will focus on the remaining 30 Prompts on the list, beginning with Prompt #1. How fun the themes will be preparing my projects utilizing the mixed media art themes. If a Drabble story (100 words) or other flash fiction emerges, then all the more fun!
Below is my project for Inktober Prompt #6:
Relaxing at the beach near the end of the day has been my therapy. Issues that rose during my adulthood were calmed or quelled during those times. Looking out over the waves, I watch the golden sunset equate the days of my life as ripples through time. The world and its troubles I leave behind.
The evening sun inevitably casts shadows on the sand. The slanting rays peer over the mountains leaving behind a warm orange glow in the sky, setting the skyline ablaze with the fiery strings of yellow bursting forth from the setting sun.
Readying myself for the relaxation, I take nothing with me but my thoughts. I set up the lounger. place the cool cocktail by my side, and position the food to feed the seagulls.
As I look out over the glistening rays softly brushing the waves, I see birds dipping, the coming up for air. They search for sustenance, knowing their efforts will never fail. For it has been already provided for before their birth. All is required is that they reach for it. By that, they put forth effort to alleviate their hunger.
The same is provided for humans and other animals. Satisfaction is within our reach. All is required is a small effort on our part to seek that which is desired.
As I dwell upon this simplistic resolution, peace surrounds my body and mind. It consumes me.
I think of the lyrics I'm sharing with you to the song "Golden Time of Day" below. I hope you enjoy their calming effect as I have for the past 30 years.
My inspiration for this prompt was the song "Golden Time of Day" by one of my favorite Rhythm and Blues groups, MAZE. This group I refer to as an "oldie" from the 1970s. To capture the essence of a sunset I could relax under, I chose one of my generative art images I produced in Gaugan2. I call the piece, "Golden Sunset".
Pulling various mixed media art together is another way I relax seeing them unfold. But the design process also relaxes me as I imagine how the scene will look after applying certain brushstrokes, filers, or features.
Gaugan is a delightful program I use as freestyle design utilizing brushstrokes on a blank canvas.
You can see the images come to life as you choose the features Notice the light green tree brushstrokes on the left side of the canvas come to life on the right hand side.
To compliment the beautiful sunset, I located a previous pure fractal I created in Apophysis 2.09, a fractal rendering program. To me, the fractal represents a glow; a breakthrough in one's mind.
I also located a free-sourced image I felt would complement the scene. A person looking out over the horizon.
To blend the images, I use Canva as my design program. I've mentioned the various tools at my disposal with my upgraded Annual Pro Membership Subscription. The most valuable one is the ability to remove backgrounds from images.
Below are my design procedures for the project starting from left to right.
I began with a blank, white canvas.
I added the generative art landscape design from Gaugan Perfect colors for sunset.
Duplicated landscape to fill the canvas.
Added yellow turbine fractal.
Duplicated, resized, and positioned the yellow turbine fractal.
Added the free-sourced image of a man relaxing in a hammock.
Removed background, resized, and repositioned the hammock.
