Is The Demon World Much Better Than The Human World??? Let's Talk About :MAIRIMASHITA! IRUMA-KUN (^_^)

What's up otaku(s)!!!
How's it going? Well, I and my mama finished watching Major S5 last night and it was as awesome as ever. I surely would want to write something about Major soon. However, this post isn't about Major. It's entirely different!

The past few days, our internet connection wasn't working very well because of some technical problems on the Internet Service Provider's Part. There was a section which was accidentally cut somewhere in Singapore and the connection in my country was affected. It was said that it'll be fixed today. Hopefully, that would really be the case since I've missed a day at work yesterday and also today.

Despite the slow internet connection, I am able to watch anime on my phone with the lowest quality. Well, it's so-so since the phone screen is small, so lower quality somehow worked. And the anime I watched the past days is called, "MAIRIMASHITA! IRUMA-KUN".

One of my Japanese friends recommended me this anime, so I decided to give it a shot. The title in English is "Welcome to the Demon School! Iruma-kun". And what got my attention at first was the kanji used in the Japanese title. I know the English title would be far off from the Japanese title at times and sometimes they like playing with words, so I did a little search on it. And found a really interesting information

参りました [MAIRIMASHITA; actual Japanese kanji] means to come... however, in the anime, they used 魔入りました which according to the article isn't really an existing Japanese phrase. 魔 means magical, but this kanji is also used in the word 魔界 (makai) which means demon world. The second kanji 入 means to enter. So, if you use the two kanji together it could be equal to entering a magical place or a place related to demons... in the anime's case, a demon school.

I know kanji is really mind blowing and difficult to study, but it could be very interesting as well. Anyway, now that the title makes sense, let's get started with the anime.

How would you feel if one day you wake up in the demon world and found out that your own parents sold you to the demons in exchange for wealth? That's basically what happened to our protagonist, Iruma-kun.

The cute boy above is the main character named, Iruma-kun. He's a 14-year old boy who was sold to the demon by his parents in exchange for wealth. When he was in the human world, he was deprived of everything a normal 14-year old should have. He is what you call a "YES man" and would do everything anyone tells him to.

He wasn't really taken care of by his parents. He started working at a young age and tried to survive life by his own efforts. He wasn't even given the chance to go to school and often starves himself. However, everything changed when he entered the demon world.

The demon who bought him is one of the strongest demons in the demon world named Sullivan. In the demon world, there are two other demons whose power equals to him but the only difference is that they have a grandson. Sullivan, being petty and jealous, bought Iruma-kun to be his grandson.

It was a very cute concept, to be honest! Sullivan is like a doting parent but in a very cute way. He loves Iruma-kun so much that he gives him everything. He gave him a very huge room with all the things he needs, he gave him delicious food everyday and make him go to school.

I think Iruma-kun's life in the human world was hell and it's the total opposite of his life with his new grandpa. Although he's now in the demon world, he was pampered or even spoiled in some way. It's so cute and somehow I feel really happy for him.

Who would have thought that one of the strongest demons in the demon world is this adorable? I really really like Sullivan. He's super cute and I always look forward to his reactions when he hears news about his "grandson".

Anyway, aside from being his grandpa, Sullivan is also the head of the demon school where Iruma-kun is enrolled to. And as you know, Iruma-kun is human, and humans are food to demons, so he should do his best to hide his real identity as a human. What would Iruma-kun do?

The song above is their school hymn.. How do you think the human Iruma-kun felt when he heard this song for the first time? His reaction was really priceless! haha You have to watch the anime to see it.

Well, basically, the remaining episodes focused on Iruma-kun's life at school. How do you imagine that would be? I'll give you some highlights. SOME SPOILERS AHEAD

What I Like About The Anime and Things I Find Interesting (may have some spoilers)

  • Iruma-kun was able to experience what it's like to go to school. Although, he entered a demon school, at least he was able to feel what it was like to have classmates, teachers and even have club activities together. In the human world, he was taken for granted and always had to work for himself in order to survive.

  • I love how Iruma-kun genuinely smiles when he is with his friends. In the human world, he has never experienced it.. having friends who treats him equally. Ironically, demons love him and even respects him, which he never felt in the human world.

  • In the demon school, humans are a myth. They actually don't know whether the existence of the human world is true or not. They can be very innocent and silly. They can be competitive and they can be very naïve as well.

  • I like how the teachers, students, and other characters are pretty relatable despite them being demons. Surely, there are messages that the audience of this anime can realize and make them think.

There are a lot of things that I enjoyed in this anime. It's funny yet touching at the same time. I love all the characters. The art style is also very cute and colorful.

The second season would be available from next month, I think... so I'm also really looking forward to watching it. It's a feel good anime that can make you laugh and somehow cry, too. I honestly didn't expect to enjoy it that much, but it was really better than I expected. I recommend it!

In the end of the final episode, there was an intriguing glimpse of the second season, so I'm looking forward to watching it soon! <3 You can watch it on Netflix and even on Muse Asia's official YouTube Channel. :)

I'll end this post here. I hope you enjoyed it! Until next time my fellow otaku(s)! Mata ne~~~
