What's up, Otaku(s)!!!
It's me again.. ^^ This post is actually my entry for THE ANIME REALM CONTEST hosted by @jandresd07. It's just nice to see contests like this in the community. Somehow, it'll make the community more active. It would be awesome to have more anime fans in the community. Let's promote anime! Yaaay~!
Anyway, the contest is to talk about the best villain in the Shounen anime genre. There are several rules to follow, so kindly check out the link of the contest proper I mentioned above.
When I saw the contest, I immediately decided to join because it seems fun. However, when I thought about the concept, I was quite taken aback... not because I have no answer, but because it was too difficult to choose just one villain.
I'm a sucker for sports and shounen anime, so it's a great dilemma. There are even villains who are more or as popular than the protagonists like Yagami Light from Death Note, Lelouch Lamperouge of Code Geass, Tsukasa and Hyoga of Dr. Stone, etc. I love all the characters I've mentioned above, but my final answer would be...

CHARLOTTE KATAKURI of ONE PIECE
Yes, I chose Katakuri of One Piece as my best villain. Surely, there are a lot of villains in the shounen genre... even if I narrowed it down to a single anime which is One Piece, we all know that there are hundreds or villains in this anime as well... but why Katakuri?? Before I tell my reasons, I want to introduce who this character is.

As mentioned in the image above, he is the second son of Charlotte Linlin who is better known as Big Mom, one of the four yonko(s) in One Piece. He is a part of a triplet with Oven and Daifuku. He's also one of the Three Sweet Commanders of the Big Mom Pirates.
He's the devil fruit user of "Mochi Mochi no Mi", a Paramecia type of devil fruit, which allows him to transform into mochi. He can trap his enemies in mochi and can use it in making offensive attacks as well.
Another cool thing about Katakuri is his ability to use various types of haki which is kind of rare in the One Piece world. He can use the haki which allows him to see a glimpse of the future, so he can change it through his ability. He is also able to use the common type of haki which is the hardening haki. Somehow, he can utilize it together with his devil fruit ability. Aside for those two, he is also able to use the haki which can knock out a lot of people at the same time just like Luffy.
Isn't he cool? But he doesn't only have a cool side, but also a cute side.

He loves donuts. It's a secret to keep his cool, serious and mysterious image, but he builds this cute little house made of mochi gets inside there and have his merienda in secret. He devours a lot of donuts with his enormous mouth which he often conceals with a long scarf.
WHY IS KATAKURI THE BEST VILLAIN FOR ME?
Well, aside from the gap in his appearance and personality, I really like him as a fighter. He's not the boastful type of villain. You notice how villain often overestimate themselves and think how inferior their enemies are. Katakuri is different. He has a good judgment because he knows himself pretty well.
When facing an inferior opponent, he tells them how different they are and even gives them a chance to flee. Also, he takes notice of his opponents potentials and compliments them for it. Though, he often never allows them to reach that potential with his abilities.
When he faces strong opponents, he shows respect and admiration to them without making himself inferior. I like how careful he is not to underestimate anyone.

He's also very fair when it comes to fighting. There was a scene when he and Luffy were fighting against each other and one of his sisters tried to help which made Luffy hurt himself. And since, Katakuri is fair, he didn't take advantage of it. Instead, he inflicted himself with the same gravity of wound as his opponent, which was Luffy at that time.
Katakuri is really an honorable fighter and I have high respect for him. He also knows how to accept defeat and could even cheer for the person who defeated him. I can't find screenshots from the anime, but this was a page from the manga which made me like Katakuri even more.

That smirk, though... When Brulee told him that Luffy was able to escape their territory, it's quite obvious that Katakuri was happy about it. Despite being defeated, he was able to be happy for his opponent's success and I find that truly admirable.
After this arc, there wasn't much sightings of Katakuri, but I really hope that he will see Luffy again... not to fight against him, but to fight alongside him as a person with pride and dignity.
He might not be as famous as other characters, but I believe he deserves to be noticed and be appreciated. Charlotte Katakuri is the MAN~!!!!
