Hello Hive Community

I am really happy to join this wonderful community and officially kick off my hive journey.
First off, I would like to appreciate one of my closest friends @samostically for his patience and encouragement to join this platform. It has been an internal battle to put myself out there. However I am thankful to be able to finally do this and connect with this amazing community.
A big thank you to @stayoutoftherz for helping me get my account, and to @aliento for the delegation. I should have made this post several months ago but I am glad I finally got to do it.

I joined hive to connect with people and to put myself out there. I believe there are lots of opportunities once you avail yourself to them.
MY CHESS JOURNEY
I picked up chess at a very young age (around 5 years). I learnt by playing with an application non my mum's Samsung phone. Struggled a lot to beat the easy level but with time I was crushing all of it. I played a lot with friends in secondary school but not on the national level. I vividly remember my first rapid tournament where I was crushed mercilessly and left before the last round. With time, results started getting better, getting podium finishes and got invited to Bayelsa state team.
I was fortunate to win the National Junior Championship in 2018 while in med school.

I represented the country in the African Junior Championship later that year and narrowly missed out on podium (finished 4th). Fawzy Adham finished first that year. He later became African Individual Champion.

I also participated in the West African University Games 2018. I lead my team (University of Benin) to a silver medal right behind the hosts (Unviersity of Port-Harcourt)> I also bagged individual an blitz silver medals in that event.

I was also opportuned to be part of the Bayelsa state team that came 2nd in the National Sports Festival 2018.
Juggling chess with med school was not easy considering how demanding the course can be. This led to reduction in tournament appearances over the years.

Tech Journey
I started coding around 2019 but dived deeper during the pandemic in 2020. Over the years, I have developed my skills and built personal projects. Last year, I worked for a healthcare startup building a mobile app and maintaining the cloud infrastructure. I also particiapate in a lablab.ai hackathon building AI agents on Arc with USDC. My team won best use of elevenlabs.

I am looking forward to meeting the amazing people in this community. I hope to participate more and connect with you all.
