Drawing Oranges

Sometimes the best ideas come from the simplest suggestions. This drawing was a nice break from my daily prompt and also a request from @borderline.babe.

She left a comment suggesting i draw an orange, and I decided to give it a try today. At first, it sounded so basic and simple, it's just a round fruit, right? But once I started the sketching process, I realized how much fun and not-so-easy it could be.

I've drawn oranges before with coloured pencils and it was easier, its not just a circle, there are little textures, soft bumps, and trying to make it work with one colour wasn't so easy. I played with shading to show its roundness and also tried to capture the fresh and bright vibe oranges always have. No doubt, even simple subjects can be interesting if you look closely. Should I draw the kiwi she suggested? Maybe I will!!!

Oh wonderful, thank you for sharing with me! 😃 Yes, I could imagine the process for citrus fruits could be challenging; the tiny individual fruit segments come to mind 😵‍💫 I enjoy this, you have managed to capture the orange!

Of course, I would still love to see kiwi too 😄 Keep us posted!
