Today is another day I get to say "I am alive!" as part of the #iamalivechallenge. And that is a good thing, and something we should never take for granted.
More Wood Chips
Yesterday my wife and I went and got another truck load of wood chips to spread around the yard. We put most of it along side the north side of our house between a retaining wall and the garage. It should help keep things a bit dryer there and make for less mess. It already smells nicer.
I also put some around a few of the trees in the yard and as a layer of much on my garden.
My Iris's Are All In Bloom
As I posted earlier, my wife and I love planting flowers, and one of the first things we did when we bought the house 30 odd years ago was to buy a whole bunch of Iris flowers. All different kinds and colors. They bloomed nice the first year, but then, didn't bloom at all for several years. About 10 years ago, I moved them all down to my garden to see if they would do better with better light. Well... nope.
So two years ago, I moved them again to the front of the yard near the road where they get much much more sun. Last year they didn't bloom either, but this year they are doing great.
(Hmmm... looks like they could use some wood chips!)
The only problem is somehow all but one of them are the same purple Iris! Where did my variety go? Luckily I love purple flowers, but man... not what I was expecting.
Headed Out for a Mini-Vacation
My wife and I are headed down to Hilton Head Island for a mini-vacation. My oldest sister is going to be down there so we decided to tag along for a few days. Chances are I will miss a few days of posts so just know I'm still alive!
