I've Been Nursing A Sick Fish
I have a small 1 fish fish-tank and my fish has been sick the last few weeks. It has what is called swim bladder disease. I had let my tank get a little funky and it probably caused his problems.
Basically his swim bladder is over inflated and he has been floating at the top of the tank, on his side, most of the time. I probably should have just put it down, but it didn't seem to stressed by its problem so I decided to try and save him.
After watching some videos on YouTube, I decided to try feeding him peas. It seems the main problem is the fish is probably constapated causing it to not be able to properly use its swim bladder. The peas act like a laxative and help get his gut working right again.
Well the good news is after about a week and a half, today he really seemed to be doing a bit better. Before he would have to work very had to get to the bottom of the tank and would pop up like a cork as soon as he slowed down. Today he can stay down with little difficulty, but his back end is still a bit buoyant and he swims pointed straight down. I'm hoping today's improvement is just the start and he will be swimming normal again soon.
