Grand Caffe Concerto, Kensington London

Just me pretending to be fancy

Let's start by getting something out of the way, I have paid almost £6 for a Latte in this place. I think that is absolutely overcharging no matter how fancy the place is. Now that is out of the way I also have to say that I have checked the prices for the cocktails, wine and even some of the cakes and in comparison they seem to be more normal and on the average with many other places.

Remember that Kensington it is known as a Fancy area in London, but if you know me I don't like to spend money, specially if I know that I can get the same exact thing, in some other cool places for a way lower price.

Now that this is out of the way let's talk about the coffee, the space and the environment.

As you can see the space it is very large and open, very bright, light and cute colours that give you that clean and high end look. The day I have visited there was many waiters around, and they were on the extreme sides, half very happy and welcoming while the other half was very distant and not bothered. I got one of the second half, but still the service was good and I can't complain about that. I actually prefer when people don't try to make small talk, because I am very awkward when it comes to it. So that was good for me.

Delicious Coffee

I almost had a glass of wine instead of this £6 cup of coffee. Because in comparison the wine was a few cents more expensive than the coffee. But I was cold, I was just killing time before I meet a friend for dinner, so I still wanted to see why was this coffee so expensive.

Got myself a Caramel-honey latte and I have to say that is was nice. Very milky, I would have preferred a stronger coffee flavour, but still it was a nice drink. Although I still think I should have ordered the wine.

This place is known for their cakes and afternoon teas. And I guess that's why they push the prices of the coffees, so they can select a type of customer that will stop for more than just a coffee.

I don’t think that grinded coffee should be there.

A Social Media Influencer Dream

What I can say about the way the room looks like is that it is a social media influencer dream. If you work as an influencer or maybe just want to take some cute photos to share with your friends and family, this place it is very dreamy and you will be able to capture very nice photos.

Personally during the time I have visited I didn't love the atmosphere of the place although. When I got in there was no music, and the people there were all very loud, I was not expecting that for a place like this. Also even when the music came on, on top of all the noise was a weird mixture. I thought I was entering in a relaxing environment and that's not what I got from this experience. But It could have just been bad luck with the customers that were there at the same time.

I won't be making any other stops in this place to have a coffee, that I know. But maybe if I am in the mood to grab a glass of wine or a nice slice of cake, I would give it another chance.

It is just the price of the coffee that got me really annoyed.

Hello @sergiomendes, is it fair to say that you have "champagne taste and bag juice pocket?" 🤣 Same here!! I'm a thrifty shopper. I like nice things but it pains me to part with my money when I know I'm being ripped off.

£6 cup of coffee

Is just wrong! I totally get your dilemma between buying that and buying a glass of wine, but the weather is dreadful and you need to keep warm.

Oh, Kensington! I love that place😍

oh yeah I am broke as hell LOL but I usually don't have a Champagne taste either. I am a cheap bitch LOL more of a £2 bottle of wine sitting in the middle of the streets type of guy! I guess it is my portuguese blood LOL I would have never visited this place if I was not doing this series in here now. Even if I was richer I would always think that £6 for a latte is just crazy!

The good thing about the UK is that you can get a decent-tasting bottle of wine for very little... I guess wine travels well here because of the climate.
Portuguese, heh? That's a country I'd definitely like to visit. I've eaten at a Portuguese restaurant and quite liked the food.
I'm happy you discovered Hive. It's the perfect opportunity for you to post and be rewarded for your content, instead of places like IG where you get hearts. I miss London, and your photos/posts brings back lovely memories of hours I spent roaming the streets of London, way back in the 90's when I lived in Jamaica and used to spend my vacation there.

ohhhhh no. I am a OG Hiver. I have been battle on the trenches! Damn I was almost an OG steemian back in the day LOL
But I am more active now because I have decided to do online stuff full time. But well I get my glory days are behind me. "My stage" was on Dtube back when Steem was growing. That's why I guess you think I am new here. I also tend to be to honest and speak my mind, so many of the other OGs and big names in the community don't really like me LOL What can I say. I am glad my posts bring you that nostalgia :D

Oh, why did I think you were new on the blockchain, I'm not sure.
I tend to like and gravitate to persons who speak their minds, so maybe that's why your profile got my attention since you've joined the community.🤣
I'm still learning more about hive each day.
Havea lovely evening:)

It is okay. No worries. I guess it is almost like I am new. Because I am one of the only ones that is here since the dawn of times and the majority of the OGs have left, so I don't really know much people either LOL

Ok! You seem like a very sociable guy, so I'm sure that now that you're more active you might find yourself engaging more:)

Hello @sergiomendes, wow that much for a coffee? It's nice to treat ourselves and splurge sometimes. The interior looks well-designed like you said, a social media influencer's element.

When I got in there was no music, and the people there were all very loud, I was not expecting that for a place like this.

With the name Grand Caffe Concerto, one would expect to highlight and carefully plan the ambient music. What type of music did they play?

I know right! Well I don't even remember, but it did go at all with the vibes of the place. I was by myself so I ended up putting my headphones back and kept playing the soundtrack of Encanto LOLOLOL

Hahaha, why not? I can just imagine the sound of your soundtrack along with the coffee. Lol
