Portuguese Deli
Just like I used to say, we are like cockroaches, we are everywhere and you can't get rid off us. And by we, I mean Portuguese People.
Here I am walking around in the area where I live when I see this name, I see that they actually have a sitting are and serve coffee, so as the Portuguese guy that I am I had to get in to take a look at the space and check it out.
The Coffee
Because I didn't saw any branding for the usual coffee blends we use in Portugal I did not want to risk it and I went for a white americano. It was nice and maybe even an expresso would have tasted good with this coffee. I might try on a next visit.
Because even after I got in I was not 100% sure if this was a Portuguese deli or not. It took me a little bit to start seeing Portuguese brands and products that I knew.
I would say that maybe because here in this area there are not too many Portuguese People they had to adapt a little bit and half of the products are Italian. I was not mad about it, I was just not sure.
Nice space
So the coffee/sitting area it is in the centre of the place and the tables and space it is nice and large so we are not packed. As a relaxing place to go frequently I wouldn't suggest, because it is not your typical coffee shop.
It is more like a mini supermarket that also serve coffee and have some tables where you can have your coffee. But if that is your vibe. The sitting area is nice in that scenario.
The Original Nandos! I have to say that I have been in the UK for 10 years, so I am not sure if now this is a thing back in Portugal. But back in my day it was not a thing. Yes, People would have this, but they would go out to get it from their local "Cock" Shop. Although I can say that maybe this is not a bad idea.
Not great for me, since I have been vegetarian for many years now, but for everyone else. You had some other big sellers in Portugal, like the cod you can see below. And some other dry products and drinks from Portuguese brands or brands that you usually don't see here in the UK.
I think I will come back to give it a try when it comes to an expresso, because it is impossible to find a good expresso in this country, maybe this is going to be the place. Otherwise I don't think I will keep coming to this place. Just if I need something that I will remember from back in the day, when I used to live in Portugal and then I would really be craving.
I know the next time I will have to come here it is to go and grab some "Nestum" to take to my best friend, when I next visit him.
So if you are Portuguese maybe this will be a good place for you to check. It might have some stuff you usually need and can't find. Like Lipton Ice Tea Mango.
