Funky Mushrooms for Fungi Friday

Mushroom Pod

We've got Three Tune Tuesdays for the musically inclined. We have Beer Saturday for those who like a brew on Saturday night after a tough weeks work. Then there are Fridays, another favourite day of mine and Fridays mean Fungi Friday. It's been an agw since I took part, but as soon as I saw these mushrooms in my garden my thoughts immediately turned to @ewkaw and Fungi Friday.

Unfortunately I don't always happen upon Mushrooms every week, but when I do, that's my Friday post decided and this week I found a pod of mushrooms in my garden, so grabbed the phone and got busy snapping. If my neighbours clocked me, they'll think I'm nuts! Crouching down taking photos around the house, ha ha.

As soon as I see Mushrooms I first think Hive and I then think @ewkaw and her cool weekly competition that I have not had a crack at in nearly six months, as I simply hadn't seen any mushrooms.

I always think it's cool the way mushrooms bunch together into these little tight knit communities. Look at them all huddled together here like a little family.

Fungi Friday

This is My contribution to #FungiFriday by @ewkaw. What exactly is Fungi Friday I hear some of you ask?

Well have a read of @ewkaw's weekly Friday post to hear all about it and get snapping the next time that you see mushrooms in the wild.

My garden is not as good as the golf course for mushrooms as you'll see from some golf course snaps below from last year, but pretty cool all the same. In fact it'll soon be getting to that time of year when these guys start sprouting up around the golf course again too.

Oh the lawn with all the little shrooms!! Nice audience :)

Ha ha

I love how they bunch together like that

On the grass there were lots of tiny mushrooms, oh how cute they were

Cool little creations aren't they, nature just doing it's thing, it's amazing amazing thing..

Amazing 😍 fungi

Yep amazing Nature at it's best...

They look like sulfur tufts, sadly they aren't edible. The other ones on the lawn look like Coprinopsis atramentaria technically edible but if you drink alcohol after eating them you get sick because of a toxin in them so no beer saturday for you lol. Last one is of course amanita muscaria a trippy mushroom only good if dried or the Russians soak it in alcohol then rub it on their joints for aches and pains.

Ohhhh lots of interesting info there my friend, thanks for that. The only mushrooms that I eat come from a supermarket tbh! I do like to look at them though, and have always liked the look of them, especially some of the madder looking ones!

Lots of good mushrooms grow in your area, an easy beginner one is chicken of the woods, bright orange grows out of the trees. I find lots of it in Wisconsin and some around here in Illinois during September and October. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laetiporus Pretty much impossible to misidentify, bright orange, no gills grows out of wood. When cooked it tastes just like chicken great for buffalo wings.

I'll keep an eye out for that man.... mmmmmmmmm chicken wings. Mmmmmmmm 🤤🤤
