Praising Buddha
It really does look like these little guys are praising Buddha doesn't it!
Or maybe Buddha is floating on a bed of mushrooms?
This is always the time of year that I start to contribute to Fungi Friday again, as the mushrooms start appearing here in Ireland again.
Wild mushrooms typically grow in cool, damp, and shaded environments with plenty of organic material to feed on, such as decaying wood, leaves, or soil rich in decomposing matter. They thrive in areas with high humidity and moderate temperatures, often appearing after rain when the ground is moist.
So it's little wonder we see them sprouting around Ireland st thus time of year.
Right let's show you a few more photos of the Buddha loving mushrooms of County Galway.
Here's a closer look at the little clumps of mushrooms.
Why do they grow in clumps I wondered?
I did a little research and found out that nushrooms often grow in little clumps because they all sprout from the same underground network called mycelium. Ptetty cool...
The mycelium is a web of fungal threads that spreads through soil or decaying material loke the wood I mentioned above. When conditions are right—like after rain and God knows we get plenty of that in Ireland —the mycelium sends up multiple mushrooms in one area at the same time. Since they're all connected to the same source, they often grow close together in clusters or clumps. This also helps them spread spores more effectively by concentrating them in one spot.
So there you have it. This tree stump is a perfect place for these little guys to set up camp.
For first time readers who are wondering what Fungi Friday is, I'll say this, we've got Three Tune Tuesdays for the musically inclined. We have Beer Saturday for those who like a brew on Saturday night after a tough weeks work. Then there are Fridays, another favourite day of mine and Fridays mean Fungi Friday.
As I say every week, there'll be a few of you who have no idea what Fungi Friday is, so let me set the scene for ye.
Fungi Friday
First things first, have a look on the #fungifriday community and scroll back to some of @ewkaw's Friday posts to hear all about it and get snapping the next time that you see mushrooms in the wild.
My golf course is great for mad looking mushrooms and it is in fact soon going to be that time of year when these guys start sprouting up around the golf course again and I always like sharing these photos as they're pretty cool if I may say so myself.
Thanks as always for stopping by everyone.
Peace Out
