RE: Cancel Culture and social media

in Proof of Brain3 years ago

While I agree to some of your points, I can't help but notice we hear much more people claiming to be silenced than people actually being silenced. For instance, we see numerous people complaining ON social media about being silenced by social media. Do they really not see how ironic that is? And often, the people yelling the loudest about cancel culture are the very same ones trying to boycott privates companies not agreeing with their views (Starbucks, Nike, Keurig, Yeti, NFL, Coke, etc... the list is long). Isn't it what cancel culture means? And just today, Rogan complaining to an audience of millions about white straight men being eventually silenced (although in his case, it's most probably just to get some buzz going). Based on discussions with various people from all walks of life, I'm not the only to find this highly ironic. And unfortunately, I think it makes it harder to fight the real problem.
