Never thought about taking pictures of legos to illustrate a story back when I had them. You're better off making up your own characters so you don't have the possible hassle of copy-right fights with lawyers.

When I last played with Lego, the Internet was before the Web even existed. Photos were printed on special paper from film and you needed to suck up to a big company to publish something.
