Garden Update: Malabar Spinach Planted by Papa :)

One of the leafy vegetables that I like is the malabar spinach. It's pretty easy to grow and it's delicious. It goes well with soup dishes. Even a simple sardine soup becomes tastier and healthier with malabar spinach.

Exactly a week ago, we ate some vegetable soup which includes malabar spinach. We decided to plant the vines from which we took the leaves to use on our dish. Papa did the planting this time since it was a work day.

It's just fun and interesting how my whole family are into planting veggies these days. It's a nice way to bond together.

As I've mentioned earlier, it's easy to plant and grow malabar spinach. You can directly plant these cut vines and water it every day.

Just like papa did in the picture above. Just prepare the soil, wet it with some water... then directly erect the vines this way... Later on, it'll grow some leaves which you could cut and cook.

We kept them in the garden at the back of our house. We placed it under the shade because it's too hot these days and they're still trying to grow. They're a vine plant, so we'd have to transfer them later on once they start growing. We need to give them a place to crawl and grow.

I try to monitor their growth every morning. This picture was taken last Tuesday and as you may notice, there are already tiny leaves coming out from the vine. It's so exciting to check the plants every day. I'm going to write something about some of our other plants' growth soon. I'm still waiting for a few more days to give that update. <3

When I checked them this morning, these babies greeted me. Yaaaaay! Perhaps a couple weeks more, then their growth would be much faster. They're so cute!!! And they make me happy. Checking the plants every morning is a great way to start my day. :)

I'm planning to re-plant the bell pepper and harvest some okra from the community garden this weekend. I guess the community garden needs some weeding, too. I hope it won't be too hot this weekend. The heat is making me tired even without doing anything. T_T

Anyway, I hope the heat won't be too much for our plants. We're trying to at least give them some shade in the afternoon when the heat is at its peak.

Thanks for checking this out. See you next time! (^^,)/
