It's time to update about our community garden. Well, we did this activity the other weekend, so it's a bit of a late update but I'd still like to share it.
There are a bunch of okra or lady's finger in our community garden, but our neighbors are quite shy to get something from the garden. It's mostly because my family and a couple other families take care of it most of the time. However, the garden is for everyone, so as long as you live in the community, you're welcome to get some.
The okra r lady's fingers are almost getting old and when they do, they become hard and won't be eaten anymore. So, what I did was harvest them and gave them away to our neighbors.
Mama assisted me in doing so. Some curious little kids also went to the garden and asked us a bunch of questions. haha I guess they were around 4-5 years old(?). They're not familiar with this vegetable, though.
Personally, okra isn't my favorite but I do eat it. When we gave them out, we informed our neighbors that they're welcome to take some vegetables from the garden anytime.
Yesterday, I heard from my papa that one family in our neighborhood took some okra, malabar spinach and kangkong from the garden. It made me happy because the garden is helpful for them as well.
My family and I just enjoy taking care of the community garden, but we prioritize our neighbors when it comes to harvesting. It's because we also have our own vegetable garden at home. This is a way for us to help the community and enjoy doing some activities together. It's good for our physical, mental and social health. :)
We replanted some bell pepper. These are the ones I left for the community garden. I just transferred 5 seedlings for our home garden.

There was a birthday party during this time, so most of the kids who usually help in the weeding are busy partying. hahaha
Mama watered the plants we have in front of our house. After she did, I took the hose and watered the plants in the community garden. I do it mostly on the weekend, but on weekdays, it's either mama or papa who does it.
The tomato plant in the community garden also started bearing some fruit or veggie (?) haha. It looks good. I hope the tomato plants in our home garden also start bearing some. These days, it's usually flowers, but I notice some different ones... so maybe, hopefully, they're the vegetable this time.
