The Water Head

in GEMS4 years ago
Today here in the afternoon there was a very common phenomenon in the region known as "Cabeça D’água" (water head)...

After extreme heat on very humid days, it usually rains heavily at the headwaters of the rivers, which causes a sudden and intense increase in the water level of the rapids, generating a “flood”. The river is muddy, unruly, and dangerous.

In some cases, this effect is so sudden that a real “wave” of water forms, dragging everything down, bringing mud, leaves, logs, and stones. It is called the Water Head.

Which produces countless fatal victims every year. Taking by surprise countless inattentive bathers who cool themselves in the wells and waterfalls without expecting the worst.

Due to the characteristics of the summer rains, very intense and fast at the top of the mountains where the springs are, it is not uncommon for the phenomenon to happen suddenly, without being possible to predict it.

The place where the Cabeça D’água sweeps through everything may very well show no sign of rain. It is necessary to be very careful and attentive. Fortunately, nothing bad happened here today
