IKORODU WHERE I LIVE

in GEMS2 years ago

Ikorodu is one of the hearts of Lagos state and sister to Ikeja, the Lagos capital. Its roads are known to be treaded daily by passers-by, commercial drivers, private car owners, motorcyclists, business men & women and market men & women. One of the biggest market in lagos called MILE 12 MARKET is located around Ikorodu. This market sells perishable items and goods and ìs being patronized by traders, business men, whosalers, retailers and even consumers all over Nigeria most especially lagos as a whole.

Because Mile 12 is one of the largest market of perishable goods like tomatoes, pepper, yam tubers, Cucumbers, lemon, limes, oranges, potatoes, apples, carrots, cabbages etc...and most busiest in commercial activities, for this reason large amount of produce of these perishable goods are done in the northern part and Middle belt of Nigeria. States like Bauchi, Kebbi, Kaduna in the North specializes on heavy produce of cow meat, fruits, and different types of foods, while a state like Benue in the middle belt heavily produces tomatoes, peppers and other perishable goods. These farmers transport these goods by road to Lagos to sell in whosale prices making meagre profits due to bad roads and banditry which destroys some of these produce. In the end only few of the produce is left for sell.

Business men and women, traders and consumers visits the market all day and night for business advances and welfare. Ikorodu has a lot of bus stops to highlight having Ikorodu garage as its last. Other bus stops may include Ogolonto, Ojota, Ketu, Mile 12, Agric etc....The latter is where I possibly highlight to my destination. When I highlight at Agric, I pick up a bike into the street until I reach my final destination.

One thing I love about each bus stops is that they are all commercially busy. Different kinds of activities take place, different moods of passers-by, different business strategies etc. The increase in commercial activities makes Ikorodu a more developed area and accommodative for settlers. Sadly but encouraging enough is the fact that the junction that opens up opposite Agric bus stop which leads to my house has been under road construction for long.

Some months, this work is stopped for some unknown reasons and then later on work resumes. The joy part of this is that soon enough roads will become smooth enough for easy ride and business thriving. Then the sad effect of this is the pollution that smears around when you move to and fro.

It disturbs me a lot whenever I go home and back to work. I get my body full of dust due to serious dusty roads as a result of ongoing construction, the noise level is high in the streets that you can barely hear yourselves in conversations and when rain falls, oh my.....its a serious issue or perhaps a tug of war in moving swiftly and easily along the streets even on motorcycles.

Well for now, I have to pray and hope for the best in my area in Ikorodu. I just rented a house for myself and still acquiring properties so I am forced to love my environment. The truth is that the sweetest part of Ikorodu is the peace that grows in and around the environment. The serenity of Ikorodu is compared to none. Apart from the fact that beautiful newly built houses are given out for rent, these properties are relatively cheap for household lodging. Many come from different part of lagos to Ikorodu just to rent houses while they travel to mainland and Highland to their jobs.

Finally, I apologise for any offense whatsoever I must have ignited here in Hive. I never knew about Plagiarism until I almost found myself bathed in one. Now I have been reprimanded and warned, I won't make any more mistakes as such again. Thanks again to everyone that takes out of their time to read my posts, upvote and comment on my posts. May I not lack in good words and interesting articles to make your day.

The Hivebuzz proposal already got important support from the community. However, it lost its funding a few days ago and only needs a few more HP to get funded again.

May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work this year?
You can do it on Peakd, ecency, Hive.blog or using HiveSigner.
