RE: Quick, run for the hills......The robots are coming!

When you mentioned having about 15 devices hooked up to the internet, I thought that's a lot. But, sure I'm the same in my house. Smart TVs in neaely every room, phones, tablets, computers, laptops, games consoles and watches. Pretty crazy to be fair.

Also, automation is a kind of scary thought as the bottom line is money. So why wouldn't a business do it, imagine starting off a company and having free labour automatically, which would help turn a profit sooner to grow and expand. I think, it'll get to the point where even coffee shops and pubs are automated and then a lot more peoples jobs will be at risk.

I think the only way to really combat automation is by doing that universal pay that is going on in one of the scandanavian countries at the moment, I'm not sure which one. But, it kind of works that everyone gets a flat payment of 350 euro, which is for everyone. Even if you work on the side. So, working a part time job would bump the person up to over 500 euro a week, which realisitically is one of the only ways to combat automation and the rising cost of living in general. Unless of course the world turns into a sci-fi post-apocalypse, where we all get a weekly payment of food rations and water by our robot overlords haha

What's the craic man, I didn't even count the smart tellys, of which we have three, so likely closer to twenty which is a bit nuts when ya think of it, but that's just modern living these days I guess. The Scandinavians are always ahead of the eight ball when it comes to social policy and outside the box thinking, so it is no surprise to hear this. I am not sure how I feel about a living wage though - getting paid to just do nothing seems like a strange system and it's hard to know what it would end up doing to society at large? I'll certainly watch the Scandinavian countries closely now to see how it goes there.

Ha ha, good one!

All joking aside though, there are a few sci fi movies that may not end up to far removed from reality in the end especially if things like the Metaverse comes to be over the next few years. Imagine what things will be like 100 years from now, I'd say we'd be blown away if we got a peak at it now, well that's assuming Putin hasn't gone Nuke-mad in the mean time..

This is it man, I have seen a lot of great sci-fi that seem too real to enjoy. Have you ever watched Black Mirror? a lot of the things in their episodes are really out there but, plausable.

The living wage thing, I'd agree could be a bad thing. But, then again, imagine everyone has the same amount of money for doing nothing. But, you can have X amount more for working part-time or even full-time. I'd say 95% of people would be out doing something. But, like you say, keep an eye on those countries and see what happens.

Ya I've watched all of Black Mirror, herself wouldn't watch it with me, thought it was too weird!! I don't think I ever watched two in a row though, as they were quite jarring and you wouldn't exactly binge watch them like the Sopranos or Breaking Bad. They are very well done and mostly very plausible and possible, well put together by Charlie Brooker. Any decent Netflix recommendations?

Aww man there was one that was on Netflix but, sadly it's been taken off it. I loved it though because of how well written it was. Did you ever watch Inside Number 9? They're little stories all centred around the 9th building on a random road and the stories were all self contained and really well written. Made by the same people who made the leage of gentlemen, well worth watching if you can find it.

Yeah I know what you mean about Black Mirror some episodes I'd need time to register it and put something funny on to take my mind off the dread haha they people who made it are the same ones who done that zombie show Dead Set, set in the big brother house. Which I thought was a great idea for a show.

Nice one man, always good getting a new recommendation - I'll have a gander later and see can I find Inside Number 9, fair play.
