It's the Holy Week, but aside from it, we're also celebrating my papa's birthday. :)
I'll be writing some posts related to Holy Week next time since I still need to edit some photos and of course, the week is still ongoing. We have something planned for Easter Sunday, so we'll be busy with the preparation tonight.
Going back to the main topic of this post, my papa celebrated his 53rd birthday yesterday. We were able to celebrate it with our family friends and relatives. Well, relatives from papa's side weren't able to celebrate in person, but they were able to greet him through video call or phone calls. <3
It was just a simple celebration, but papa had a great time, especially because mama cooked his favorite dishes. I know it's Holy Week, but we still ate a lot of food. haha
He really requested for this whole chicken. It's pan-roasted and it's really delicious. Mama made two of these, one is spicy while the other is just the regular one.
Papa and I love spicy food, while mama couldn't stand it. That's mainly the reason why we make two versions of the same thing at home. It's the same even with eating instant noodles... papa and I have the spicy-flavored one, while mama gets the regular one.
It's humba (pork adobo) with egg. :) We prepared this the day before papa's birthday because it tastes much better the next day after some reheating. :) It's papa's favorite dish made by mama. Well, it isn't just his fave, but a fave of many people who have tasted it. You should try it! ^^
It's grilled milk fish. It's another favorite of papa. I don't eat fish anymore, though... but they were able to enjoy this dish, so it's cool! ^^
Since papa's birthday was during Good Friday, we bought the cake in advanced last Thursday because stores were still open at least for half a day. We weren't able to order from my cousin because my aunt decided late whether to actually come over because it was Holy Week and the typhoon present the past few days.
Luckily, the typhoon disappeared and we had clear skies... although there were some showers for some minutes or so. It wasn't very hot, but wasn't that gloomy, either.
We were able to have fun together... played some games, music, etc. We also helped each other in preparing the food and most stuff.
I'm just grateful that papa was able to celebrate another year in his life. I hope he's always happy and healthy. ^^
