Life has been pretty tough since the year started. My family and I have faced a lot of challenges, but we're doing our best to survive and move forward. Well, life, in itself, is a challenge. I'm just grateful that no matter how tough life might get... no matter how rocky and dizzying the road may be, my family and I are facing it together.
As you may know, there was a huge typhoon in my area before the year ended last year. One of our source of income was greatly affected. Living in a tropical country, selling some ice cream is a good business. However, when the typhoon came which cut our electricity for almost a month, we had no choice but to actually give away the "melting" ice cream to our small community. At least, we were able to make the people here, especially the kids, smile despite the calamity which struck our place.
As we continued on with life, it was quite difficult to actually bring back our small business as before, so we ordered just a few products and let it roll... but of course, it wasn't enough.
This was the state of our freezer. It was relatively empty. We only bought the products which cost less capital but still popular among our customers. It was quite sad to see how it looked like. We weren't able to get it back to it's original state before the typhoon because the profit we get, we also try to provide for our store... we just try to get things work somehow.
Last week, I got in touch with one of my students turned friend. He knew about the situation and was really kind to offer his support. He said that I was of big help to him in the past, so he also wanted to give back. Of course, I'd need to pay him back but it's with less pressure unlike when I take some loan somewhere. But this is already a really huge help.
Earlier today, we got the products delivered. It was exciting to see that number of boxes once again. Recently, we only ordered a couple boxes every week just so our freezer won't be empty and our customers can still have a refreshing day somehow. haha Anyway, it looks so much better now! After arranging the newly purchased products, here what it looks like now.
It's finally back to its pre-typhoon state and looking at it makes me happy. For sure, our customers would also be happy to have more choices this time. Despite it being rainy season, a lot of people still look for ice cream. It's a happy food after all.
I'm really grateful especially to my friend who lent a helping hand. We will always be appreciative of you. When you visit the Philippines someday, get your tummy ready for some delicious Filipino cuisine and a bunch of ice cream. <3
I'll end this post here for now. Until next time! (^^,)/
