One thing I like about Filipino culture and personality is being generous to everyone. This is something I'm proud about. Aside from being very hospitable and welcoming to foreign or local tourists, we also try and practice the value of being a united community.
Of course, there might be some exemptions, but it's a major thing especially when you live in the countryside. I live in a city, but my community is quite close-knit, so I'm lucky.
When I went out of my room earlier today, I saw three guavas on our table and I immediately thought Oh, it's from Kuya Willie.". Guess what? I was right? He usually gives us guava fruits whenever their tree bears some. I took some pictures of them.
Aren't they huge??? They're all ready to eat, but we want them to ripen more. However, the medium-sized one is the ripest among the three, so we decided to eat it later this afternoon.
I got some knife and cutting board ready, so I'm going to cut them into bite-size, since they're quite huge. I then placed them into a container and refrigerated them.
I'm already excited to have them later. We just need some salt to dip them in. Well, they're already delicious even without the salt, but I'd still prefer it with the salt. How about you?
By the way, I set aside some of the seeds that fell when I was slicing the fruit. I'm wondering if we could try and plant them this way. I'll do some observations in the coming days and update you with it, maybe in my gardening posts.
If ever we're going to successfully grow some seedlings, we're planning to make it into a dwarf guava plant, so we could just place it in a bigger pot just like the one we used with our moringa tree.
I'm really glad to have such kind and generous neighbors. Last week, we got some cardava banana from another neighbor, Kuya Ron-ron. We already ate them this week. hahaha
