I had quite a busy and very eventful week because of my bestie. We spent time together and it just made me really happy. I haven't gone out that long for a while, but since it was with bestie, time passed by super fast that I wanted to extend. However, as I'm writing this post, she'd be on a plane to the US already.
There are a lot of stuff I'd like to write about our bonding, but on this post, I'm going to show some of the food we prepared for her last Sunday.(I know... it's late, but I was kind of busy having fun, so I'll post the events chronologically.. lol)
My bestie has this food craving list that she calls "Busog Lusog" list. Busog means full while lusog means health. Anyway, these are the food she can't easily have while in the US, so she wants to tick as much boxes as she can while in the Philippines... and my family is more than willing to help her with it. <3 Anything for my bestie-slash-sister!
On her first week here, she went out and spent some time with her relatives... so, I worked as usual. Then on my day off last Sunday, I asked her if she was free because we are going to prepare something for her. She fortunately had some time in the afternoon, so we invited her for lunch.
We grilled some fish and chorizo. There are some spices inside the fish because she likes eating them. Chorizo is what I usually have whenever my family grill fish because I can't eat fish anymore. Well, bestie also enjoyed this chorizo...
Then, we also bought some local seaweed called "guso". When I told her about it, she mentioned her aunt bought her some, but she'd eat this anyway since it's from a different store. haha
This here is one of the most specific food on her list. It's "Holiday corned beef" with only onions... no eggs! hahaha I guess this brand feels like home? I like this, too... but my mama doesn't like the smell. Well, she's not into beef in general.
Hanging rice... I remember her telling me years ago how she wants to have hanging rice, but there isn't any coconut leaves where she lives. So I told her, just cook your rice without rinsing, and it'd be similar... Hahah Not quite sure about that, though.. xDD
And to complete the "beach-themed" lunch (all these food are common or more delicious when eating at the beach), mama boiled some banana and sweet potato.
It was a feast and I'm delighted to see my bestie eating happily. I'm happy that we're able to help her tick a few boxes off her cravings list. :)
Later that afternoon, we talked a lot and ended up watching an animated film called "Suzume no Tojimari". I'll try making a review of that soon, too.
Anyway, I'll end this post here for now. See you next time and have a great one! (^^,)/
