It's my godson's birthday today. Unfortunately, we won't be able to celebrate with him because my best friend and his family decided to hold it in his wife's parents' place which is in the next town. However, I asked my best friend to come over our place for a bit because my parents and I wanted to give something as well as some ice cream for them to share.
My best friend did come in the morning, but I was still asleep that time, so mama and papa gave him our presents for his cute little son. When I went out of my room upon waking up, I was surprised to see a familiar box. It's some pastries from Cardinal Bakeshop and later learned that my best friend gave it to us.
He and his family are always so thoughtful and generous. When I check the box, it was UBE ENSAYMADA!!!
My best friend really knows me. lol I love ube flavor in pastries. Ube is actually purple yam and it's quite popular in the Philippines. There are quite a number of Filipino snacks and desserts in this flavor including ice cream. I especially like ube ice cream in halo-halo which is also a very famous dessert in my country.
Ensaymada, on the other hand, is a kind of bread. If I'm not mistaken, it originated in Spain, but it's also a very popular kind of bread in the Philippines. There are various flavors of ensaymada, for instance, cheese, mung beans, chocolate, etc. However, one of my faves is definitely a combination of ube and cheese. And that's what my best friend gave us.
The ube ensaymada from Cardinal Bakeshop is really fluffy and delicious. In some other bakeshops, they're a bit hard, but I like it the Cardinal Bakeshop way. They also put the right amount of filling. There's a perfect blend of ube and cheese. Well, their ensaymada might be pricier than other bakeshops but they're worth it!
It's soft and somehow melts in your mouth and the flavor just happily explodes! It made me really happy! What a great treat to start my day! haha I merrily shared it with my parents and we actually still have a couple pieces left for tomorrow. <3 I love to eat it with coffee. Yummy!
Is ube a common flavor in your country, too? How about ensaymada? Have you ever tried this delicious treat? Comment down below! ^^ Thanks a bunch for checking this post out. Until next time! Hopefully I could make some artworks this weekend. I haven't drawn anything for more than a week now. xD See you around! (^^,)/
