It's another week of one of my favorite challenges here on this platform, the ASEAN Hive Community Challenge #86 with the topic The Beauty of Boats.
Even at a young age, I'm quite familiar with boats and ships because we usually board them every time we visit my grandparents' house in my father's hometown. It's in another island, so we have to board a ship or ferry.
However, for this challenge, I won't be talking about that ship, but I'll be sharing some photos of boats or ships that brings back happy and exciting memories. There are three various photos that I'm sharing. Let's start!
I was out of town with my bestie when I took this photo. We got wonderfully lost in one of the southern towns of Cebu. We had a plan, but we didn't have any backup... however, we ended up staying in a much better place.
Behind the traveler's inn we stayed in was a beautiful beach... we were taking a dip that late afternoon. I like the sunset that time despite it being cloudy. We don't usually see the sunset in our city, so I this got me excited. While we were enjoying the cool sea breeze and still warm water, I saw this group of young boys fishing on their boat. I thought it was cool to take a picture of them with the cloudy sunset on the background... and it turned out pretty well.
It was a crazy, yet fun and memorable adventure with my bestie. :)
Are you familiar with this ship? This is the world's floating book fair. It came to Cebu more than five years ago and I went there together with my mama. This ship travels all around the world and stays in some countries for a couple of weeks to welcome people aboard for their book fair.
It was my first time going inside this ship and I could share the experience with my mama. We bought some souvenirs and of course, a couple of books as well.
And lastly, this cute little boat when my cousins and I went to meet the penguins in Antarctica. JK~
This was in Happy World Museum where we can see 3D art and optical illusions. My aunt treated us that time. I had a really great time with my cousins. Godwyn was still so small that time. It's really nostalgic... and it felt that we were kids again. :)
Short Story Time...
The first time I boarded a ship alone was when I was 13. I was supposed to go with my best friend John, because his cousin's family and relatives also live in the same island as my grandparents. However, his cousin ended up visiting them in Cebu... so, I decided to go alone. My papa took me to the port that time.
It was windy and a storm was coming. There was only one trip left because all the others were cancelled due to the coming storm. My papa asked me if I want to go on with my plan, and I said, "Of course!". I was excited for the experience... the available ship was a really small one.
I sat in the window seat inside. They didn't offer seats outside because of the big waves... We traveled for about an hour and as I was looking at the window, I could see underwater every time the boat somewhat bounces on the water. hahaha Half of the window was already kind of submerged during those times.. then, I'd see the sky again.. then the sea...
It was quite scary because I don't know how to swim... but I remembered enjoying the experience. When I arrived at my grandparents' house, my grandma got angry at me because I still went through my plan despite the storm... but I remember grandpa trying to stop her and he told me to get inside to have some lunch. I know grandma was just worried... I mean, who wouldn't right? Mama also got angry at papa because he let me go instead of stopping me.
It was Christmas vacation that time and I wanted to spend it there. Mama and papa eventually followed a few days later after they finished some stuff they needed to do. I was just excited to spend time with my grandparents and cousins there, so I headed earlier than my parents.
That's it for this post. Thanks for checking! See you next time!
