ASEAN Hive Community Challenge #59: What Makes You Laugh?

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITY11 months ago

It's time for another ASEAN Hive Community Challenge!!! The topic this time seems simple but it actually made me think. haha Anyway, the question is What Makes You Laugh?

In my opinion, it's easier to make someone cry than to make them laugh genuinely. So, I respect comedians who are really good at it. It's more than a talent, I suppose. However, more than comedians, what makes me laugh are the simple and silly things I do with my family and friends.

I am usually just at home and I don't meet my friends or other relatives often, but every time we meet, it's total chaos.

It's usually just me, my parents and Arashi at home, but we are still very chaotic especially on my days off. We usually bond at home just singing, talking, watch movies together and so on. However, my father is a crazy person. He has a bunch of dad jokes that are actually funny and he usually says it with a straight face which makes it funnier.

There was one time when we were having a conversation while having breakfast. Mama and I were talking about anime and papa felt left out... The conversation went like this.

Papa: I also know some anime character.
Me: Who?
Papa: Naruto...
Mama: You only know Naruto... you should mention other characters.
Papa: Shanshu...
Mama and Me: Who is Sanshu...? (There's no character named Sanshu.)
Papa: Sanshu Marudo
Mama and Me: burst out laughing

In the Philippines, there's an actor named Zanjoe Marudo and he just replaced Zanjoe to Sanshu in an attempt to make it sound more Japanese-like. facepalm

He also created a bunch of new words or expressions like "kimpish" --> he literally forgot the term "pinkish". He told me, "Ate (uh-teh - big sister; they usually call me this), you look kimpish today." Mama and I had no idea what he was talking about. hahaha

And recently, he usually says "See you alphabet." --> See you "LETTER". ugh But the way he says them is hilarious. xDDD He's not the best in English, but I do love his confidence!

As for my friends, we enjoy doing crazy stuff together and just laugh like there's no tomorrow. I remember playing 5 Seconds Rule with my female bestie and there was a question, "Name three male nobles" and I answered King, Prince, Dutch (instead of duke).. because of the 5-second pressure. Like it should be dutch and duchess, right? XD

I and my male bestie just do crazy things while gaming. It's always so funny playing games with him. When he's being serious, I'd prank him or take away his buffs or kills, and vice versa. I just love my chaotic friends.

Aside for my family and friends, here are other stuff that make me laugh.

Jo Koy is one of my fave stand-up comedians. I guess it's mostly because his jokes (especially about his mom) are relatable since we're both Filipinos. If people are aware of Filipino culture, they're also going to find it hilarious. Or for those who don't, you may learn something about it through him. :)

Aside from stand-up comedians, I also like watching funny anime moments, especially from my favorite anime. It makes me laugh every time. I remember one time I was still in university. I was on my way to a local community health center for my duty. I was on the jeepney and I randomly remembered a scene from the anime I watched the night before that I started laughing alone and the other passengers stared at me. It was so embarrassing, but I didn't care. I just brushed it off by looking at my phone. Hahaha

Anyway, the best laughs will always be the unexpected ones shared with your special people. :)

Thanks for reading and see you around. Stay safe and happy!

Oh I think I will join this. It's true, it's not easy to make others laugh. So those who have this gift is really blessed to have it. Your dad seems like one. Haha. I think being a comedian is easier to guys.

I also enjoy watching Jo Koy. Such a funny guy. Haha.

Yaaay!! Please do... 🥰🥰🥰
Jo Koy is indeed hilarious... I especially like his Vicks and accent jokes... 😅😅😅

It's really nice to have someone who cracks a jokes everytime. Makes everyday feels lighter. You father is indeed funny.

He is... Earlier today, we were just chatting during dinner and we asked him something. He suddenly said, "I invoke my right to remain silent." And we were like... what the -- xDDDD

Thanks for posting in the ASEAN Hive Community.

I agree, hard to beat a good stand-up comedy act, Jo Koy is one of the greats, very well-known here in the USA. Your father sounds like a real clown, and I think he and I have very similar senses of humor. My wife and many Cambodians always confuse "kitchen" and "chicken" in English, and that is always good for a laugh, especially when it's said like "Can I get you something from the chicken?" I always answer, "Yes, a few eggs please." 😅😅😅
