ASEAN Hive Community Challenge #23 -Tabletop Games [Family Bonding and Way to Kill Time]

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITY2 years ago

It's time to participate in another challenge by the ASEAN Hive Community. Every week, the challenges are becoming more and more interesting. I always look forward to joining every week, though I fail to do so at times. haha Anyway, I'm excited for this week's topic which is Tabletop Games.

Well, we don't play these very often but when there are some family gatherings, we sometimes have board game nights.

I will share two different games in this post. They are the "5 Second Rule" and "Scrabble".

This board game actually belongs to my bestie, Ielle. She brought this from the US the last time she visited the Philippines. We had so much fun playing it. I remember it was on Christmas break, so my younger cousins Nicole and Godwyn were in our house. We all gathered in the dining table that time and played this together while munching on some snacks.

In this game, one person should pick a card and answer what's asked. He or she is given 5 seconds to answer. That yellow thing is a timer and it makes this really funny sound. If the person answers correctly within 5 minutes, he or she can keep the card. The person who gets the most cards in the end wins.

It so challenging and funny especially because of the time limit. I remember that one time I got asked "Name 3 male royal positions" and I answered... "King, Prince and Dutch" hahahah I was supposed to say "Duke", but I was thinking of duchess during that time.

When we didn't have electricity for weeks following the super typhoon, my parents and I use the timer and play a modified version of the game. We each think of a question and ask the other players. The fastest player to answer wins and gets to ask next. We asked really random questions including personal ones like "What are my top 3 favorite food?" and the like.

I guess a lot of you are already familiar with scrabble. It's a word game you could play with 2 or more people. When I was in high school, I used to compete in scrabble and double scrabble. It was actually fun!

Mama especially enjoys playing this game. She even plays scrabble on her smartphone. Those times when we didn't have electricity, mama and I played it a lot before the sun went down. You can probably still see some of our scores on the paper in the picture above.

When my younger cousin comes over, we also play this board game together. It's a nice way to get away from our phones once in a while, though most of the time we play mobile games. haha

Any type of board games or tabletop games can be loads of fun especially when played with crazy people. Aside from the ones I shared above, I and my cousins used to play Monopoly, Snakes and Ladders, UNO and a lot more in the past. I don't have those games at home, though. So, I used to play it in my cousin's house.

That's it for this post. I would love to play these games again soon! Thanks for reading. (^^,)/

Ooh I love Scrabble and can be quite competitive while playing it 😆

Hahaha... it's more exciting that way. ^^

This is an interesting topic, keep the spirit to follow it.

You should join the challenge, too!!!

I think some people don't read the posts and only look at the pics before commenting 🤔😉.

Thanks for posting in the ASEAN Hive Community.

Of course Scrabble is a classic, I've played it a lot, but it wasn't in my home as a kid. Even though I am from the USA, I am not familiar with the 5-Second Rule game, but the concept is very entertaining, and I could see it beneficial for English learners too. UNO is a big one too in our house, the kids get very competitive with it.

Thanks for joining the challenge, an outstanding post.

It is!!! I guess scrabble would never get old. I wasn't aware of its existence either, until my bestie brought it to my place. hahah It's really fun to play... Ohh~ yeah, kids are especially competitive just like my younger cousin. He hates losing!

You're welcome. ^^ It's always fun to join challenges. Thanks for the opportunity. :)
