Hello all! Today, I took the time to go outside with my uncle (@esecholito) to do some gardening at my grandmother's garden that we're rebuilding.
Together, he and I decided to transplant some of his Tomato plants into my grandmother's garden! Tomatoes aren't exactly our favorites, but I love my uncle's spaghetti sauces! Transplanting the tomato plants got us dirty but we did just fine and it was quick. We also put some dead leaves and grass clippings where we transplanted the plants so that the soil can retain more water whenever it rains. Currently, it's hurricane season so the rain should be arriving more often to help us take care of the plants.
The plants weren't doing that well when we went out earlier in the day, they were a bit dried out and looked 'tired'. We gave them water before the transplant so that they can be filled with some energy and be less stressed when we moved them. So far, I think they enjoy the area where we put them at. My uncle used a measuring tape to measure the right distance between the plants, he also showed me how to use a measuring tape as well (which I ran away with it and my uncle had to chase me down)... It was a lot of fun. We measured around 18 inches, or 1 foot 6 inches, of the distance between the plants so that the plant's roots can have enough space to spread.
Other than transplanting these tomatoes we also took the initiative to water the rest of the food crops we had, like our peppers and some herbs.
They're growing to be quite lovely! All of the plants got their special treatment today! Now, that's it for today, and it's time for us to enter the house and prepare some dinner!
